Through releasing material on Guy J's Lost & Found Records, the Dutch artist emerged in 2014, firmly establishing himself in the world of deep melodic house. Subsequent releases for Cid Inc's Replug Records, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Belgian Events brand EDGE, further solidified Navar's place amongst the genre's elite. Now following a remix of Eric Lune's 'Benji' to begin the year, Navar presents his first original project of 2020 via Roger Martinez's Higher States. Spread across four tracks, Navar explores a broad spectrum of organic sensibilities on 'High Noon', beginning with the free-flowing tranquillity of 'Moon At The Window'. A bed of broken beats and exotic drums sets the stage for hypno grooves and pixie-like melodies. Transcendent and glowing in equal measure, it's fuzzed out stabs, incandescent harmonies and unpredictability showcases an artist operating at his creative peak. 'Desert Storm' follows suit with a similarly charming quality. Subtle shades and fragmented tones coverage as the narrative evolves, creating a contemplative yet emotive drawl which is sure to resonate on multiple levels. Beginning the EP's second wave are the dulcet beats of 'Arctic Vibez'. Spacious and smooth, it's a piece built around warm bass tones and luminous cascades. Spiralling overlays strike at opportune moments, blanketing the robust framework onwards to a meditative finale. Rounding out the release is the title selection 'High Noon' which finds Navar flexing the peak time prowess of his studio repertoire. Sitting comfortably between the playful and emotive, it's dusty percussion and bouncy arps bring texture and drive to a brilliant rhythmic theme. Tranquil tones and smooth chord changes marry for an elegant apex, ultimately putting a stamp on this sensational release. Sure to be an important piece in Navar's discography, it's a collection of music which further solidifies his place amongst the progressive house elite, while continuing to forge new sonic blueprints for the future.
