MEL BELL – Ready To Go [Stellar Fountain]

Stellar Fountain continues to add new talent to their roster with a new EP from MEL BELL. Hailing from Germany, MEL BELL first emerged just over a decade ago with releases via Zensur Feinkost Records. Immediately recognized for her deep sound, the Hamburg resident would go on to land projects with Asymmetric Recordings, Cirque Du Son and more across the next five calendar years. More recently and in conjunction with the rise of organic house, MEL has found a home on Future Avenue, Pipe & Pochet and Soundteller Records. Now, adding Stellar Fountain to her resume, MEL BELL debuts on the label with 'Ready To Go', alongside remixes from Lupe Republic and Josta.

Getting the release underway with the title selection, MEL marries buoyant beats and organic grooves with ghostly vocal fragments and soulful musical concepts. Warm and inviting throughout, a nicely manicured selection of exotic percussion pushes momentum forward, while shimmering arrays and further vocal phrasing deliver a break that is both trance-inducing and memorable. The companion piece 'Just Us' lands as a perfect complement to it's predecessor and is equally expansive at over eight minutes in length. Luminous tonal themes play off well placed vocal elements and striking chord stabs, while the second act is highlighted by further vocal evolution and a lovely array of astral sonics.

Also making his label debut is Lupe Republic who provides the first interpretation. The Buenos Aries resident comes off releases for Amulanga, Songuara and When We Dip XYZ with a deeper more percussive take on 'Ready To Go'. Dusty percussion, atmospheric phrasing and further deconstruction of the vocals make for a pixie-like version that's sure to find favour on the more astute dance floors.

The release concludes with Josta returning to the label for his first remix following his 'Waterworks' EP from 2021. The Mexican artist stays relatively true to the main themes from the original, making great use of the vocal elements and primary melodic theme, all while adding a more robust low end and greater atmospheric depth which is nicely suited to a daytime dance floor. It rounds out two great label debuts from MEL BELL and Lupe Republic, while Josta makes a welcome return. Don't miss it.
