Madloch – State Of Mind Remixes [Sound Avenue]

The latest release from Sound Avenue finds the label showcasing new interpretations of Madloch's 'State Of Mind'. Originally released in July on the label's 'Summer Sampler' it found the Belgian artist and Sound Avenue boss crafting a reflective, slow burning journey with a myriad of emotions. With the rapid growth of Choon's exciting new streaming platform it proved to be the perfect stage for the label's latest remix competition. After two months of close to 100 entries, Buba and Stories of Dharma emerged as the chosen winners, earning them a place on the release alongside Mir Omar who had been previously commissioned.

The release gets underway with deep progressive house savant Buba. Hailing from Tivat, the Montenegrin artist has found a home on A Must Have, Submarine Vibes and The Purr. Now chosen as one of the 'State Of Mind' winners he makes his Sound Avenue debut in grand fashion. On a bed of punchy beats and warped bass modulation comes sinister stabs and organic percussion. Rhythmically charged, the first act builds tension before breaking down into an interlude of piercing tones and soulful harmonics, eventually shifting energy into a smooth, emotive finale.

The second interpretation of 'State Of Mind' is provided by Mir Omar who is making his Sound Avenue debut here. The New York resident has carved out a unique place in the progressive house landscape. His emotive creations have already earned the praise of Herman Cattaneo and landed him a single on Solarstone's Pure Progressive imprint. Now following a remix for John O'Callaghan's Subculture, Mir makes his much anticipated Sound Avenue debut with a stunning interpretation of 'State Of Mind'. Smooth, pulsating and laced with haunting effects, the creation builds across four acts. With immense drive the piece transitions into an effervescent break where a maze of electronic clusters and sweeping atmospherics deliver both emotion and drama. A poignant moment that resonates deeply, before effortlessly shifting the narrative into a purring finale.

The release concludes with the second competition winner Stories of Dharma who also makes his label debut. Having previously released under his given name of Joaquin Morales, the Buenos Aires resident is active the city's nightlife under his event brand 'Vintage'. Now starting a new production chapter as Stories Of Dharma, Joaquin closes the release out with a downtempo rework of 'State Of Mind'. Beginning with a blend of laid back beats and organic methodology it's a sultry eight minute journey for the mind and soul. Afro tinged drums and cross cultural motifs immediately suck you in before a strong tonal theme seals its sultry brilliance. It's rounds out another hugely successful remix competition for Sound Avenue who continue to nurture exciting new talent.
