K Loveski – Makatau [Soundteller Records]

Continuing what has been a great year, K Loveski debuts on Deersky's Soundteller Records with 'Makatau'. Kicking the summer season off in style the Russian artist released his 'WonderLAN' single via Stellar Fountain in June. Add to that collaborations with sometime studio partner Ewan Rill have graced Balkan Connection, Magnitude Recordings and Yang. Now continuing his solo ways, K Loveski lands on Soundteller Records with a three track artist showcase.

The pure progressive sounds of 'Sfumatta' lead the release off and show just how apt the Russian artist is at creating groovy rhythmic concepts. It's rolling cadence builds effortlessly across the first act, quickly becoming infectious as buzzing stabs and sweeping atmospheres carry into the main break. Fragmented vocals add a cosmic element to the proceedings while a drum roll builds tension below, eventually peaking for a powerful yet groovy drop.

The second and also title selection ‘Makatau’ is equally impressive, coming in with a similar sonic ethos and very much the progressive sound of now. Vibrant hooks and rolling rhythms converge against an effervescent backdrop, before a band of vocal edits leads into a drummy, tension filled break that's primed for dance floor destruction. This is epic in the best sense of word and likely one of K Loveski's biggest productions to date.

The release concludes with ‘Buanno Tenero’ which is the most reflective of the three and appropriately so. The tempo and feel good factor comes up a touch here with another strong vocal narrative and quirky electronics which resonate throughout the piece. Bassy stabs add mightily to it's strong rhythmic core while the main break really brings those nostalgic vibes you look for in a closing track. It rounds out three stunning creations from K Loveski who continues to rise up through the progressive house landscape as 2019 moves forward. Highly recommended.
