As one of Argentina's most promising talents, the Cordoba resident has found a home on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden and Antrim's Or Two Strangers imprint. Having previously completed two remixes for Soundteller, both in the final quarter of last year, Julian now returns to the Polish imprint for his first artist project entitled 'Finding the Way'. Julian's quick rise has been amazing to watch and it continues with the lead track 'Beyond the Senses'. Backed by bulbous beats and a warm, fluid groove comes charged rhythms and fiery percussion. It's powerful drive is encased in a never ending swirl of mystical atmospheres for what results in a truly cosmic feel. Void of any major lead theme it's a delicate tonal motif which sits at the forefront, running through a gaseous break and eventually elevating the piece during a pulsating finale. The journey continues with the deep, rolling vibes of the title selection ‘Finding the Way’. Immediately captivating, it’s playful melodic hooks and layer of tonal tension make for a heady first act. Rolling percussion plays off a sultry low end, making for an irresistible, hip swinging groove leading into the break. Here the harmonic storyboard comes to life, complemented beautifully by bassy rumblings and a haunting vocal, before smoothly transitioning into a tasteful build and epic finale. The release concludes in fine fashion with the the deeper ‘Voodoo’. Beginning with meandering atmospheres and a cascading theme, the energy comes down a touch while layers of drums build in an organic space. Gentle swells and fragmented melodies trail across the framework, before a strong rhythmic complement locks down an inviting dance floor swing. A series of timely breaks keeps the narrative fresh, leading to anticipatory vibes and eventually building to a glowing atmospheric finale. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it rounds out what is an inspired collection of music from Julian Nates, who is definitely one of this year's most hotly tipped up and comers. Can't wait to hear more from this talented artist.
