Releases JAWJEE – Lethal Love [Mirabilis Records] By Release Promo Posted on 12th October 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Jawjee makes his return to Mirabilis Records this week with ‘Lethal Love’. The UK artist first appeared on the Slovenian imprint in February of this year with a remix of ‘Space Funk’ by Matt Black & Chris Sterio. Subsequent releases on Pro-B-Tech Records have made for a successful 2018 thus far. Now building on that momentum Jawjee presents his first single for Mirabilis alongside remixes from Moonface and Dark Soul Project. The original mix gets things underway with an old school progressive vibe which long time fans of the genre are sure to love. It’s warm, driving groove and buzzing electronics are immediately appealing, while catchy synth hooks bounce off it’s tight rhythmic core. Waning tones dominate the break, elevating the narrative into emotive territory. Almost grandiose in a way, eventually leading to a massive wall of bass before fully saturating your pleasure centres as the beats drop. Two excellent remixes are also included here by long time progressive house faves Moonface and Dark Soul Project both of whom return to the label for their third appearance. First up and famed for his long history with John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint is UK artist Moonface who ups the tempo for a quirky, rugged gem of a remix. The main themes translate well but what really stands out is the character of the mix, particularly during a second act of mutoid funk and shifty rhythmic brilliance. Killer remix from Moonface. Rounding out the release in fine style is We Are The Underground label boss Dark Soul Project. The Argentinian artist is a veteran of the scene dating back to his first releases on Mistique Music in 2010. Also owning releases on Lonya’s Asymmetric Recordings and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Dark Soul Project now lands back on Mirabilis with a spacy interpretation of ‘Lethal Love’. The buzzing, hypnotic qualities from the original work quite nicely over top of a minimal, more modern sounding framework. Chopped up vocals play a large role in the narrative, keeping the storyboard fresh as those spacey design burrow further into your subconscious. A lovely remix from Dark Soul Project which rounds out a great release from Mirabilis once again.
