Inessa – Song of the Soul [Deepwibe Underground]

Continuing a strong summer season, Deepwibe Underground welcomes Inessa to the label for her debut EP 'Song of the Soul'. Hailing from Tunisia but now based in Austria, Inessa fell in love with electronic music at an early age as a dancer, before finding her way as a DJ and producer. With stops in Paris, London and New York City along the way, Inessa now calls Vienna home, where she founded her label Leisure Music Productions and is a well known event promoter and DJ. With a sound that touches on the organic sensibilities of Deep House, Progressive House and Melodic Techno, she has showcased her music via Aletheia Recordings, Bonzai Progressive and Natura Viva. Now continuing to emerge as an artist, Inessa steps up to Deepwibe Underground for her first EP alongside a remix from Soulmade (AR).

Getting the release underway are the deep and hypnotic sounds of the title selection. Warm beats and rolling bass unite for a smooth yet powerful low end, while spacey effects and rolling percussion add mightily to its mysterious nature. Sleek and serene, an evolving atmospheric backdrop emerges across the first act, gently teasing the senses, before a timely break highlights the soundscape further as poignant tones initiate a glowing finale. ‘Chronicles of the Stars’ follows suit with its trippy designs and mystical atmospheres. Robust rhythms carry the rolling foundation while fluid percussion, killer effects and haunting vocal fragments trail across the stereo field. Once again the mood created is highly hypnotic, almost meditative at points, eventually leading to a solemn sounding break which elevates emotion and intrigue, before shifting energy into a heads down final act.

The release concludes with Soulmade making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Chronicles of the Stars'. Nahuel Velazquez aka Soulmade hails from Rosario, Argentina. He began his electronic music journey under the alias of Nahuel V before eventually adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. He's compiled an impressive discography since, showcasing his music via Dopamine White, Droid9, Soundteller Records and Strangers Beats. Now following an EP for Big Bells, Soulmade makes his Deepwibe Underground debut with a groovy interpretation of 'Chronicles of the Stars'. Tougher than the original, its muscular framework is offset with crunchy rhythms, effervescent effects and reprocessed vocals. Similar in mood to the original, a dark narrative slowly draws you in as the first act evolves, perfectly setting up a mysterious, effects laden break which should not only command the full attention of your dance floor, but smoothly segues into a classy drop and spirited finale. A massive interpretation from Soulmade, which caps off an excellent Deepwibe Underground debut for both himself and Inessa. Don't miss it.
