Haddad – HOH [Transensations]

Transensations concludes their year by welcoming Haddad to the label for his debut single. As a DJ for some time, the Sau Paulo resident has a sound that sits in the creative space between melodic house & techno and progressive house. Citing the creative mecca that is Berlin as a major source of inspiration, Haddad now makes his production debut with 'HOH' alongside remixes from Michael Ritter and Lusii.

Beginning with the original mix Haddad explores the peak time side of melodic house & techno. Tough beats and a chugging groove sit at the foundation while tight arps and charged rhythms fill in the framework. Striking claps steal the air at opportune moments across the first act, as timely transitions keep momentum fluid leading into the break. Melting down to a crunchy bed of electronics, the centrepiece adds tension to the narrative as a steady rise in modulation and classic drum roll spark a commanding drop and electric finale.

The first interpretation of HOH is provided by Michael Ritter who also makes his label debut. Based in Berlin and heading up the Grey Bar Hotel imprint, Michael has found a home on Dynamica, Polyptych and Suprematic where his melodic house sound has flourished. Now following a collaborative release on BQ Recordings, Michael makes his first appearance on Transensations with a stunning remix of 'HOH'. Overhauling the original in dramatic fashion, the Paris resident leans in a deeper more emotive direction, with a reworked groove and spacious rhythmic core. Warm tones, effervescent arps and flickering percussion sit atop a foundation of glowing bass swells as the main break commences. A gentle build across the interlude sees a tasteful rise in tension, all while keeping the timeless vibe intact as the groove drops for a gorgeous final movement.

The second and final interpretation of 'HOH' is provided by Lusii who returns to the label for her second appearance. The Brazilian artist first appeared on the Brazilian imprint in September of this year with a contribution to the label's popular 'TRANSENSES' series. Now following a remix for 4our Records, she makes a welcome return to Transensations with an astral rendition of 'HOH'. Setting the piece in motion, a backbone of warm beats and vibrant arps merge for a wall of momentous energy. Buoyant tones complement the rippling foundation, while ethereal synths steal the air at timely moments. Emerging atmospheres make for a smooth transition into the main break, dialling things down for a comfortable calm, while perfectly setting up a groovy drop and cosmic finale. A lovely remix from Lusii which rounds out another great release for Transensations, a label who by all accounts have had a great year. Highly recommended.
