Frømme & Tenerfuse – Spellbound [ICONYC]

John Johnson's ICONYC opens the month of May by welcoming Tenerfuse back to the label for his debut EP. New York based producer/DJ Chris Forsyth aka Tenerfuse has been a fixture of the city’s nightlife for the better part of two decades, having opened for progressive music icons Nick Warren, John Digweed, Markus Schulz and Max Graham. As a producer his fresh take on the genre has found a home on 3rd Avenue, Another Life Music and Future Avenue. Chris' ICONYC Noir debut 'Empty Island' rounded out 2020 on a high note, rising to the number one position in Beatport's Progressive House charts, while earning support from a broad spectrum of the genre's premiere tastemakers. Denmark based producer Frømme has enjoyed similar success across his production career, landing releases via Another Life Music, Keep Thinking and BOX4JOY.
Now stepping up for their first ICONYC artist EP Tenerfuse teams up with Frømme for 'Spellbound'.

Beginning with the title selection Frømme and Tenerfuse explore traditional progressive house sensibilities with a slight lean into organic territory. Tough yet warm, a well contoured groove sets the piece in motion as striking percussion adds swing to the framework. Placid pads and ghostly vocals converge for heartfelt moments as the first act unfolds, before haunting effects transfer energy into the main break. Tastefully tranquil, the centerpiece heightens emotion, as the vocal continues to drift amidst warm swells and glistening electronics, perfectly setting up an emotive, key changing finale.

The companion piece ‘Keep On’ follows with an equally enticing storyboard. Once again backed by a buoyant foundation, it’s a maze of vocal wails, effervescent percussion and squelchy synth designs which slowly saturate your senses. Haunting overlays sweep across the framework as the narrative progresses, adding emotion with each successive loop, while dulcet tones and buzzing electronics highlight a glowing break on wards to a powerful finale. It rounds out a stunning two track offering from Frømme and Tenerfuse, who make their first collaborative effort a most memorable one. Don't miss it.
