Filter Cutz & Ignacio Berardi – Apollonia [Soundteller Records]

Filter Cutz & Ignacio Berardi present their debut collaboration via Deersky's Soundteller Records this week. The Argentinean duo have both had measurable success in their respective solos careers having notched releases on Clinique Recordings, Electronic Tree and Nube Music. Now coming together for their first collaboration Filter Cutz & Ignacio Berardi present 'Apollonia' alongside remixes from Meeting Molly and Aeikus.

A meeting of two musically creative minds is always exciting and 'Apollonia' definitely delivers Beginning on a back bone of warm beats and a rolling groove it’s clear the aim is straight at the dance floor. Waves of percussion and spacey effects add a dynamic flair, before harmonic overlays shift the narrative into more emotive territory. Effortlessly breaking down into a second act, a solemn calm comes over the piece, as buzzing electronics and a delicate tonal theme make for quality theatrics, before a smooth rush of noise sparks a meditative finale.

Fresh off releases on Songspire and Incepto Music, Meeting Molly makes his Soundteller debut with the first interpretation of 'Apollonia'. The Russian artist takes a deeper route and the result is an inspired take that complements the original wonderfully. Following a warm, groovy intro the rhythmic core of the piece takes shape with pulsating tones and layers of perfectly manicured percussion. Soulful wails highlight the journey, adding depth and emotion without sacrificing dance floor dynamics in the process. A great remix from Meeting Molly.

The release concludes with Soundteller label artist Aeikus returning for his third appearance. Fresh off his 'Asteroide' EP along with releases on Clubsonica and Stellar Fountain, the Brazilian artist now delivers his first remix for the Polish imprint. From its tough, more techno inspired groove, tight arps, luminous tones and enigmatic drum fills there is a lot to like. What’s perhaps most compelling is the harmonic storyboard which brings you closer to the cosmos as a trail of melodic clusters and mystical atmospheres continue to elevate the mood towards an exhilarating finale. A heady remix from Aeikus, rounding out what is an excellent offering from Deersky's Soundteller Records once again. Highly recommended.
