News Feature: JFR shares 10 tracks which inspired his journey into electronic music By Release Promo Posted on 21st February 2024 12 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Secret Feelings continues a strong start to the year with a new single from label boss JFR. Hailing from Argentina but currently calling Spain home, Juan Franco Rivero aka JFR has carved out a unique sonic identity in the world of progressive and organic house, resulting in a string of uniquely crafted records that present a resonant worldly sound. Enjoying a steady rise since emerging 2017, it was 2021 which proved to be a breakout year for JFR, as the Argentine continued his upward trajectory with a standout release for UK behemoth Anjunadeep; a project which would lead to offerings via Clubsonica and Musique de Lune across the next calendar year, and in turn garnering support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sebastian Leger. 2023 would also bring newfound success for JFR, launching his Secret Feelings imprint in September with 'Anatonic', before ending the year with the critically acclaimed five-track showcase '21 Angels'. With January's 'The Last Queen' landing as JFR's first single of 2024, the Barcelona resident continues to impress with his latest Secret Feelings offering 'Gocru', alongside remixes from Fernando Ferreyra and Thales Senses. To celebrate the release of 'Gocru', JFR has curated a collection of ten tracks that have fueled his passion for electronic music in his formative years. OceanLab - Satellite (Original Above & Beyond Mix) (2004) Above & Beyond, was a great start to introduce me to electronic music, you can see it in my music today, arrangements or "trancerous" melodies, and this is one of my favourites. Nick Devon - Cosmos (Original Mix) We were traveling by car to a party with a friend (I don't remember where) but I remember this track. My friend Mariano was driving and played this track in the car, it was our favorite for a long time and it's one that will always sound great for me. Radiohead - Idioteque Radiohead is my favorite band, I have a lot of tattoos of them on my body haha. When I started producing, my mentor at the time would make me listen to Radiohead and we would get so many ideas for our projects based on their great creative approach. Fernando Ferreyra - Particles [Original Mix] Being Argentinian, I started listening to Argentinian artists, Hernan Cattaneo in the main, but Ferreyra's music flipped me for sure, this is my favorite tracks of his, this track is more than 14 years old. I have an unofficial remix of this track that I'm playing several years ago, I will release it soon. :) Joris Voorn - Ringo (Original Mix) One of my favorite artists of all time, his way of mixing techno with melodic house is incredible and this track is a perfect example of that. Sasha, Krister Linder - Cut Me Down (Kastis Torrau & Donatello feat. Arnas D. Remix) I was traveling to Mar del Plata on vacation and my brother-in-law played this song in the car. I will never forget it. It has stuck with me until this day and I still play it live when I see the opportunity. Underworld - Born Slippy (Nuxx) When I first heard this song and researched about it and the band Underworld, I liked it a lot more. To know that Hyde was struggling with alcoholism at the time and that they recorded the vocals in one take... it's crazy ! This track is one of the most influential on me to this day. Nowadays I'm recording my own voice for some tracks of mine haha, I hope to be able to do one take someday :) deadmau5 & Kaskade - I Remember A classic. I love Deadmau5 , I love his personality, he loves cats and his sense of humor is similar to me, I love to see what he writes with his sense of irony. :) Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Sweeping Strings Remix) I was only 10 years old when this track was released. 7 years later I met them and I have never stopped listening to it since. An absolute classic. Guy J - Lost & Found (Original Mix) It was very difficult to choose the last one. I left out a lot of artists that inspired me, but when I entered the world of progressive house, Guy J was the one who guided me. I remember listening to this track in the fifth section square with 2 great friends who introduced me to this and to this day I am very grateful to them for letting me hear this gem.
