Presenting their third release of the year, Phenomena welcomes Elias Erium back to the label for a new EP entitled ‘All Equal’. On the strength of 2023’s ‘Echoes’, a five-track showcase to end the year in celebration of the label’s five-year anniversary, the Canadian artist would begin 2024 with the well-received ‘Follow the Signal’. Fully formed within the confines of his Montreal studio, the February release would find Elias continuing his exploitative path into melodic house & techno, with a definitive lean into the darker and more peaktime oriented aspects of the genre. Favoured by a cross-section of DJs from Mind Against to Markus Schulz and John OO Fleming, the two-track showcase would set the course for what promises to be another standout year for the Canadian. With the project’s introductory single ‘Stimulate’ landing in April, Phenomena now unveils the full ‘All Equal’ EP, alongside a remix from label debutant Tyler W.

‘Stimulate’ sets the pace and lands with many of the production hallmarks for which Elias has become so beloved. Tight beats and propulsive drums provide a DJ friendly intro, as the bassline drops for a rush of pneumatic energy. Stepping decisively on the gas, it’s a free-flowing exchange of siren-like wails and clustered synth mutations which provide an enduring marriage leading into the break. Warm rippling chord changes serve as an emotive anchor across the interlude, one where rising modulation and a vortex of drums meet in a goosebump worthy crescendo, before a rejuvenating finale breaks into a rich textural rain of melodic colour, where euphoria awaits with arms raised and eyes closed.

The title selection ‘All Equal’ finds Elias showcasing a deeper side of his repertoire. Created with a tasteful sense of emotion and restraint, it's a rhythmic coax of fluttery motifs and feathered percussion which set the course for a memorable main break, one where Elias showcases his melody crafting prowess. As the beats drop out holographic synths emerge, carefully balancing a loud-soft dynamic, and in turn elevating mood towards a goosebump worthy crescendo, all while maintaining an underlying ambience for an end of the night style finale.

The release concludes with Tyler W providing the lone interpretation of ‘All Equal’. Hailing from Canada, Tyler W first emerged in 2021, producing a mesmerizing brand of progressive house that caught the attention of the genre’s fans and tastemakers. A well-received debut entitled ‘Scorpion Rising’ via Plaisirs Sonores Records quickly made the Montreal resident a new artist to watch, while 2023 showcased a more organic side of his studio repertoire, with the release of ‘Sensibility’, a contribution to Frooogs’ popular ‘When the Sun Rises’ collection. Now, presenting his first production of 2024, Tyler makes his Phenomena debut with an inspired rendition of ‘All Equal’. Complete with tight kick drums and chunky basslines, it's a storyboard of intricate percussive layers and gentle melodic progressions which make for an alluring hypnotism leading into the break. Here, Tyler leans towards the emotional sensibility of the original, reworking the primary theme in a dubbed out windswept fashion, before carefully building tension towards a finale that is equal parts emotive, mature and club-effective.
