Eli Nissan – Old Glory Late Romance [EDGE]

The latest release on EDGE welcomes Eli Nissan to the label for his debut EP. The Israeli artist has been at the heart of Tel Aviv's electronic music scene for over two decades. As one of the country's most highly touted talents, Eli's rare combination of musicality and dance floor vision has led him to releases on Guy J's Lost & Found Records and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music. Now following an EP for Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records, Eli makes his much anticipated EDGE debut with 'Old Glory Late Romance'.

Spread across three tracks it's the title and showcase piece which gets the journey underway. Warm, dulcet kicks and intricately detailed percussion set the piece in motion, as wispy atmospherics and melodic motifs slowly surround the framework. Warm bass tones only add to its widescreen appeal and foreshadow the emotive storyboard to come. The second act transfers energy further into the subconscious, as the melodic narrative develops amidst a sequence of smooth chord changes and arpeggiated clusters, ultimately leading to a radiant finale.

The EP's second selection Aquarius' is more of a mystical creation. Unique and quirky, it showcases the esoteric side of Eli's vast studio skills. Wavy lead motifs percolate on a bed of warm, buoyant bass, as percussive splashes add an effervescent sizzle above. Reflective and hopeful, the tracks centrepiece is one of tranquil beauty, subtly building with organic qualities and transitioning into a buzzing finale with ease.

Shifting into peak time territory the release is rounded out with Reloaded'. On a backbone of pulsating beats comes warm bass swells and layers of organic percussion. Subtle yet poignant, a soft melodic theme weaves its way through the atmospheric glow encasing the framework. Flanked by two interludes the second act shifts energy with aquatic design and free flowing harmonics, before eventually melting down into a trail of sonic artifacts as one final drop ignites your dance floor. Now a regular in the sets of Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy Mantzur and Khen, the remainder of 2018 holds much promise for Eli, with Old Glory Late Romance' sitting as one of the summer's most sought after progressive house releases.
