Dr. Alfred – Dysnomia [Soundteller Records]

Dr. Alfred makes his debut on Deersky’s Soundteller Records this week with ‘Dysnomia’. The Cuban born, Spain based artist is perhaps best known for his work on Beat Boutique, ICONYC and Stereo Records. Renowned for his diverse style Dr. Alfred now lands on Soundteller for his debut single alongside remixes from Juan Astudillo and Michael A.

The beauty of new music from Dr. Alfred is you're never quite sure what you're going to get. Equally adept at a variety of genres he explores the fun and funky side of progressive house on '‘Dysnomia’. The tempo is quite high by today's standards at 125 but it's frantic, party minded sound suits that pace quite well. The numbers of drops and clever transitions is quite astounding but it's the break which really brings the heat, with a near one minute build resulting in a frenzied apex and stellar drop.

Also making his Soundteller debut is Juan Astudillo who provides the first remix. Appearances on Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music along with a recent EP on the surging Auditen imprint have established Juan in a never-ending see of Argentinean talent. His interpretation of ‘Dysnomia’ really hits the spot, taking the track into pure progressive territory. The tempo comes down a touch but this is undoubtedly geared for peak time play with a warm but aggressive, chugging groove sitting at the foundation. A smart tonal theme carries the track nicely, perfectly complementing the strong rhythmic core and ultimately delivering even more intensity during the main break with some cosmic modulation.

The release concludes with Michael A returning to the label for his seventh appearance. The Belarus based artist and Genesis Music boss is fresh off a release on Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music. Recorded in collaboration with Montreal’s Simply City the two track offering was well received and enjoyed considerable Beatport success as well. It's a busy week for Michael as he also has an EP out on Cid Inc's Replug Records and for as prolific as he can be the quality never seems to wane. Much like Juan's interpretation Michael takes things into the progressive new school with shapely grooves, subtle shades and dulcet tones which converge for a heads down seven minute journey. No doubt destined for the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren it rounds out a another awesome release for Deersky's Soundteller Records. Don't miss it.
