Dhany G – Sun 24 [Balkan Connection]

Dhany G returns to Balkan Connection for his first solo EP 'Sun 24' The Cuban artist first appeared on the Serbian imprint just two weeks ago with his 'Jade' EP alongside Leo Perez. Also laying claim to 2019 releases on SoulArt Recordings and Superordinate Music, Dhany now lands back on Balkan Connection with a new EP alongside remixes from Christian Monique and Rodrigo Lapena.

Beginning with the title selection Dhany explores the deep, hypnotic spectrum of progressive music. On a bed of warm beats and fluid bass stabs, comes finely tuned percussion and a catchy arp. Smooth and uplifting, it’s the break which brings the greatest emotion response. Carefully constructed, it's subtle build quickly sucks you in before a classy crescendo initiates a strong finale. The companion piece 'The Past Behind Your Back' is a touch more direct with crisp percussion and a rolling, proggy groove. Quite pure energy wise, it's glowing arps bring a lot of magic across the first act, building wave of wave of momentum. The peak time appeal is certainly there and the main break only furthers that with a wall of shimmering concepts intertwining for a stellar conclusion.

The lone interpretation of 'Sun 24' comes from Christian Monique who translates the main themes over a slightly deeper foundation. Hugely atmospheric and a touch cinematic as well, the Italian's perfectly manicured beats sound fabulous here, particularly coming out of a dreamy break while sitting over a bed of emotive chord changes.

The release concludes with Rodrigo Lapena providing the lone interpretation of 'The Past Behind Your Back'. Following a well received single on Massive Harmony, the Buenos Aires resident provides another gem here, taking the main themes from the original and utilizing them is less distinct fashion. The main break is expansive and impactful, pushing the melodic narrative, while adding flurries of drums and low end swells, before melting down into the warm, redolent groove and emotive finale. A stunning remix from Rodrigo which caps off another excellent offering from Balkan Connection. Don't miss it.
