Chris Cargo – Shimmer / Guidance [Beat Boutique]

Progressive House savant Chris Cargo returns to DJ Zombi's Beat Boutique for debut EP 'Shimmer / Guidance'. The Irish artist debuted on the Israeli imprint in July of 2018 with a well received remix of Phil de Burn's 'End Credits'. A strong start to 2019 has seen the Irish producer complete remixes for Mirabilis Records and his own If You Wait imprint. Now landing back on Beat Boutique, Chris presents his first original project of the year.

Beginning with ’Shimmer' Chris explores the more melodic side of his studio repertoire . Deep and driving, it’s meaty low end is warm and wonderfully contoured while dynamic stabs, radiant arps and cosmic fill in the framework. Fragments of noise pan across the stereo field, transitioning into the centrepiece where emotion and tension are at a premium. Timely modulation continues to elevate the mood before a wall of melody, colour and smooth chord changes deliver an exhilarating apex. Definitely one to bring fire to a peak time dance floor.

Rounding out the release and perfectly complementing 'Shimmer' is the ominous 'Guidance'. Dark and mystical from the outset, it’s roomy framework develops methodically as rolling rhythms and electric motifs converge in a perfect sonic marriage. Otherworldly in nature, the tonal tension rises to grandiose levels as the second act unfolds, as icy pads fade in and out of teh stereo field eventually revealing a poignant theme before a classy drop seals it’s dance floor appeal. It rounds out two massive productions from Chris which have already been performing well with DJs pre-release so expect to be hearing these a lot in the coming months. Highly recommended.
