Chris Cargo - 04.28 [Clinique Recordings

Clinique Recordings returns this week by welcoming Chris Cargo to the label for a brand new single. The Irish artist has enjoyed much success this year after returning to the scene from a seven year hiatus. Projects for Soundteller, Stellar Fountain and Sprout have all been sensational and the resurgence continues with a brand new single for Clinqiue Recordings entitled '04.28'.

There's an immediate vibe about this one as it begins, something dark, dramatic and very compelling. The sound design and overall detail is quite impeccable as ethereal vocals, cosmic effects and a wide array of percussive elements tantalize the senses. Even more ominous is the main break, cinematic in a way, and just long enough to build anticipation without losing the overall feel of the track before a meaty drop. Fabulous stuff from Chris.

Clinique has assembled an amazing remixer team on the project with Analog Jungs, Loquai and Paul Hamilton all delivering superb renditions. Agentinean duo Analog Jungs are first up and take a deep and somewhat lighter approach. The dark undercurrent is there but luminous tones and radiant atmospheres brighten up the mood quite a bit. A fluid groove makes the eight minute journey quite effortless feeling and a more dramatic break adds nicely to the storyboard.

This is a track that sounds perfect for Loquai to remix so not a huge surprise to see Clinique bringing him on board here. The Russian born, Germany based artist has opened the groove up quite a bit with a warmer more spacious feel. Smooth chord changes and quirky electronics sit nicely over the heavy foundation before a timely break brings all the elements together for one final rush and a stripped back drop. Lovely remix from Loquai.

The release concludes with the currently hot Paul Hamilton returning to the label for his sixth appearance. The Maltese born, Dubai based producer is on form again with a super smooth, groovy interpretation that really hits the spot. Paul's sense of dance floor dynamics is evident on all his work and the subtle tension which builds during the break is further evidence of this. Really well crafted and intricately programmed for a killer drop. Massive remix from Paul which rounds out an excellent release on Clinique Recordings. A standout in their discography no doubt.
