Feature: Budakid [Interview + Premiere] Hi Kevin, thanks for joining us today, tell us a bit about yourself, how old are you, where are you living and how long have you been producing music and DJing? Hey astronaut ☺ Thanks for having me this month. My name is Kevin Huizing and I make music as Budakid. At the moment I’m living in Berlin, but I was living in the Netherlands until last year. I started producing twelve years ago, at the age of fourteen and gradually I started getting more into DJ’ing as well. How did you discover electronic music and what led you down the path of wanting to be a DJ and producer? Where do your early influences lie? I started at a drum fanfare back in the day. I played there for almost 7 years, I think, and then later I discovered a way to produce music all by myself. At the age of fourteen I already went clubbing (which sounds a lot cooler than it was… haha) and that inspired me a lot to try and make electronic music myself. I still know the guy who was playing tech-house/minimal tra Read More
Dixon on balancing health, family and the demands of touring Originaly featured on innervision facebook fangroup for melodic diggers: Facebook and MelodicDiggers Do you ever look in Innervisions fangroup when you’re bored? Yeah, I do. But I am not sure if this is not like raiding a fridge at 4am and then regretting it. How many shirts do you have? Between 50 and 70, but that’s just numbers. Shirts are seasonal objects. So they come and go. I only keep what I consider the most iconic pieces. What is your vision of the techno music scene in 10 years? Honestly, I refuse to think about the future. That would be nostalgia in reverse, taking me away from the shifts happening not yearly, not daily, but hourly nowadays. I try and enjoy what is around me, graspable, as long as it's there. Culture disappeared forever through uniformity and whitewashing. We should definitely not crave for knowing the future or its protagonists, but push for our shifts today. What makes you special, or at least, different than the other top DJ Read More
Feature: Guy J [Interview] Hello Guy, thanks for joining us today, you are just back from stops in Toronto and Montreal, an eight hour set at Coda and a mammoth 20 hour back to back set with Hernan Cattaneo at Stereo. Tell us about those, how were they and how do you prepare for a 20 hour set? physically, mentally and musically? For me the preparation for that weekend was producing music that I can play at different point of the set and just digging for good music! Both gigs were amazing thnx to the great crowd of Canada, Playing with Hernan is always fun, he is a master of a dj and a good friend so it goes very smooth. For the 20 hours set we had the best sound system for it which is in Stereo, you just want to keep playing there, its unreal how good it is. The club was always busy and the people gives you the energy to keep on playing, we both absolutely loved it. Although you're primarily thought of as a progressive house artist, your music sits in a space that transcends the genre. A wide assortment Read More
Feature: Nela [Interview] Hi Nela, thanks for joining us today, tell us a bit about yourself, where are you living and how long have you been producing music and DJing? How did you discover electronic music and what led you down the path of wanting to be a DJ and producer? Where do your early influences lie? My first experience of DJ’s and the art of DJ’ing was a rather uncomfortable moment due to another DJ with prehistoric, chauvinistic views. However I was fascinated by the whole process and skill of mixing and, putting that moment to back of my mind, I set out to dedicate my time to learning and crafting my own skills behind the decks. I began playing out and after a while the ‘word’ spread quickly and in the last two years I’ve now played every major venue in my home city of Tel Aviv. The production chapter is a more recent and, I would say, natural development. Sometimes I enjoy it more than DJing. Its really mind blowing what you can do in the studio, the infinite options of sound. You c Read More

Feature: Marcelo Vasami [Interview + Premiere] Hello Marcelo! Great to have you on the interview today! Where did your love of music come from and how old were you when you first realised you wanted to work in the music industry? I started to get involved with electronic music because of my cousins, they were djing at a club in Buenos Aires and they taught me how to mix. I got really passionate about it and by when I was 18 I new I wanted to make a living out of music. Do you have musical influences outside of dance music and what are they? Yes, for sure. I love music. I’m always in the mood for some Radiohead, Sigur Ros or Depeche Mode, and I’ve also been listening to a lot of Stavroz and Raz lately. What’s a normal day like for you? Do you have a job outside of electronic music? I’m lucky enough to work of what I love doing, and that’s music. A normal day depends on which day of the week we’re talking about. They’re not always the same either, depend on the projects I’m working on and how many gigs I hav Read More
Chicola – Could Heaven Be (Album) [Lost & Found] Chicola, the Israeli veteran producer, unleashes over two decades of music production experience on the excellent 'Could Heaven Be' LP following on from his recent Beatport number one hit single 'Yoav'. Quote from Chicola: Many moons ago when I almost gave up on making underground music, I got a phone call from a friend who I haven't heard from in a few years. He asked me if I'd be interested in getting back in the studio and making music together. Looking back on everything it was a life changing moment, that phone conversation was a wakeup call that changed everything and had an amazing impact on where I am today. Since that day I found my true passion again and I feel blessed that somewhere on this journey of life I could listen to my heart and never give up on that dream of making music. After a few years of releases I started to work on an album in 2016. At that time my wife and I lost a very good friend and shortly thereafter her daughter also passed away. These tragic Read More
Feature: WhoMadeWho [Interview + Premiere] Hello Guys, thanks for joining us! your much anticipated sixth studio album 'Through The Walls' is getting closer, it's got that amazing blend of electronic pop / funk that you're so loved for but there are also moments of deep, meditative bliss with tracks like 'Purple', 'Belong' and 'Surfing On A Stone' which we absolutely love. How do you end up with the final selection and how do you go about cutting stuff out? There must be honeymoon period with almost everything you write? TOMAS HØFFDING: in the moment of creation there is always a state of megalomania…there has to be, otherwise you cannot do it… I mean, you are up against the goods of songwriting and producing every time you make a new track. if you put things too much in to perspective at this moment, you lose all your mojo. later, after you have written and produced the track, you step down from the pedestal, and you look at what you created. And then you go really hard on yourselves, the honeymoon is definitel Read More
Marc DePulse – Better Be Nice (Original Mix) [Einmusika] Loss of control. Shimmering lights, smelly buildings'corners, a heavy throb in your head. Time doesn't pass, doesn't stop, is meaningless. Your whole body is off-line, your mind blown away. But that doesn't matter because it brings you further and you set the direction. Marc DePulse's second longplayer "Kontrollverlust" will be out in November. Loosing yourself in music, in trance - on purpose or because life takes it's way - that's what it's about. While "Uranus51" is mystical and spheric, a straight way into nowhere, the second track "Her Fragrance" already catches you with dark, dirty bass lines and pulsating beats. Xenia Beliayeva's vocals on the title track "Kontrollverlust" are telling a story about love and sorrow at the same time. Visions, fantasy, the whole longplayer is full of emotions. "Hats Off" starts with a bleeping and continues softly and peacefully. A perfect club tune followed by "Sienka" with this little extra of funk. So now "Better Be Nice" while dark basses a Read More
PREMIERE: ABE – Black Horse (Original Mix) [Sinners] “Founded during a cold winter night on the island of Grimsey in Iceland, Abe’s focus and aim is to create and conserve timeless moments through their music. Like a formation of Northern Lights that reveal themselves to their spectators, the music of Abe is developed outside of our modern world and its regulations. It’s dark and soulful techno, both simple and complex. The title track “Our Land” kicks things off on a lavishly transcendental note, with layers of sounds craftily filling the complete frequency spectrum. A bass heavy synth melody and crisp, precise hats compliment each other skilfully, whilst the drums and effects used provide the piece with a much-appreciated organic feel. The over eight minute composition morphs and builds without being obtrusive and is sure to leave its mark on dance floors worldwide. Next up is the menacing “Black Horse”, which boils gently until it erupts for an ultimate peak time climax. Here we see Abe focusing on the darkest sid Read More
