Andrew Case – Singularity [Stellar Fountain]

Andrew Case returns to Stellar Fountain this week presenting his first single of the year ‘Singularity’. The Romanian artist made his debut on the Hungarian imprint in January with a remix of ‘Trizee’ by William Forest. Also owning releases on Dear Deer and Yaiza Records, Andrew now presents his first single for Stellar Fountain alongside remixes from Matteo Monero and Fractal Architect.

The original mix is perhaps one of Stellar Fountain’s best signings this year. It’s deep, laid back approach is quite inviting as layered beats and shuffly drums carve out a smooth framework. The effects are stunning; otherworldly and mystical in design, perfectly converging around the groove as indistinct melodies and charming harmonics carry the eight minute storyboard.

What appears to be the DJs choice at the moment however is Matteo Monero's remix. The Italian artist has amassed a great following over the course of his 12 year career and continues to be one of the progressive scenes steadfast names. Matteo goes for a more direct dance floor approach on his 'Singularity' interpretation, upping the tempo and stripping away some of the elements for a more spacious, driving vibe. The bass line is positively electric, with powerful pulses carving out the groove while just enough atmosphere and melody give it depth without losing that energetic feel. Massive remix from Matteo.

The release concludes with label artist Fractal Architect returning for his eighth appearance. The UK producer delivered his 'Spheres' EP with sometime studio partner Dan Baber in February and now closes the release out with a great rendition of 'Singularity'. There's been quite a bit of refinement here with a neatly tailored groove and an intricate percussive section. Delicate arps meander at times but the highlight is the subtle harmonics which sit at the emotional core of the track, undeniably powerful and a great feeling to end off the release.
