Abity – Particles / Hollow [Higher States]

Presenting their third offering of 2021, Roger Martinez’s Higher States welcomes Abity to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Argentina, Jóse Duque and Bruno Signorelli make up the Abity production team. The Rosario natives have been collaborating and creating their brand of progressive music for over a decade. Laying claim to a discography of close to 150 credits, the Nick Warren favourites have showcased their music via Antrim's Or Two Strangers, 3rd Avenue, Soundteller Records and Stellar Fountain. Following a release for Nikko.Z’s Dopamine White, Abity now makes their much-anticipated Higher States debut with ‘Particles/Hollow’.

As Abity approaches their thirteenth year together, the duo’s creative synergy continues to flourish with ‘Hollow’. Typically impressive, the seven-minute journey is one of power and hypnosis, characterized by a muscular groove, charming effects and breezy atmospheric swells. A forest of neatly manicured percussion adds to the glorious progression, as vocal overlays bring further depth at timely moments leading to the break. Tranquil arps highlight the centrepiece, bringing meditative qualities to further saturate your senses, onwards to a thumping finale.

The companion piece ‘Particles’ is equally impressive with its infectious drive and otherworldly atmospheres. Warm and full, it’s voluptuous groove and rhythmic pulses are transcendent, building momentum as interwoven effects delight with their mystical charm. A magnificent break sits at the heart of the journey, highlighted by glassy arps and muted beats, eventually melting down to a rousing drum roll and suitably hypnotic finale. It rounds out an exceptional Higher States debut for Abity, an artist duo who continues to impress with their heady creations. Highly recommended.
