NuKreative – Equanimity Remixes [Magician On Duty]

Magician On Duty returns, presenting new interpretations of NuKreative's 'Equanimity'. Originally released in August of last year as part of the Aussie duo's debut EP for the label, it followed up impressive outings for Kindisch and Open Records. Magician On Duty now invites two of Australia's finest in Luka Sambe and Jamie Stevens to re-interpret the track for 2019.

Widely regarded for his progressive minded creations on Guy J's Lost & Found Records, Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat Music and Cid Inc's Replug Records, Luka Sambe has been exploring deeper territory of late. It's landed him releases on Manjumasi and more recently Magician On Duty with his 'Follow The Rainbow' EP. Now returning to the label for his first remix Luka puts a funky, percussive twist on 'Equanimity'. Backed by a housey rhythmic core, it's robust framework and melancholic themes make for a proper dance floor romp, while a healthy complement of organic drums and squirrely harmonics only add to it's esoteric magic.

The release concludes with Jamie Stevens providing the second and final interpretation of 'Equanimity'. Fresh off an EP for John Digweed's Bedrock Records, the Australian artist also lays claim to releases on All Day I Dream, Lost & Found, microCastle and Replug. Now making his debut on Magician on Duty, Jamie provides an inspired take on 'Equanimity' to round the release out. Deep, intricate and undeniably compelling, it's a tantalizing journey into the depths of exotic percussion and Mediterranean motifs. There's a unique character locked in this one that you just don't hear much these days, making this such a joy to listen to several times over. Jamie's been on a major roll this year and this is one of his standout remixes thus far, with the remainder of 2019 looking to be quite fruitful for the talented Aussie. Highly recommended.
