Now a much anticipated series for the Indian imprint, these VA EPs look back over the label’s catalog, presenting new interpretations from some of the freshest talent in the underground. Invited on the third edition and all making their label debut’s are Anton MAKe, Milos Ilic, Dimuth K and Ivanshee. Anton MAKe has had a terrific year with releases on Cid Inc’s Replug Records and Lonya’s Asymmetric Recordings. Now capping it off in style he delivers a must have rendition of Michael A’s ‘Endless Time’. Well known for his groove sculpting prowess, the Russian artist has carved out another fat, fluid and monumentally funky low end here. It serves as the perfect anchor for warm beats, fiery electronics and waves of atmosphere to merge for a stellar first act. The main theme gets utilized nicely and with an added twist, taking you a step closer to the cosmos. Add to that a concise and impactful break and you’ve got a modern day progressive floor burner. One of Juicebox Music’s most beloved offerings was undoubtedly ‘Timelapse’ by SEQU3L. Released over two years ago it is perhaps one of the most key pieces in the label’s history. Reaching #2 in Beatport’s Progressive House chart, not only was it the Indian imprints best selling track of the year, it continues to resonate with a broad spectrum of the genre’s DJs today. Now the label invites Milos Ilic to reinvent the track following a release on Deersky’s Soundteller Records. The Serbian artist has been relatively quiet this year with this being just his third production but it’s clear he’s been spending time in the studio working on his craft. The mood and energy which was so transcendent in the original translates remarkably well here. The lead line is just so good and with just the right effervescent shimmer it’s been reinvented in a hugely emotive way. That, coupled with a sleeker, more driving groove and the end result is a peak time opus for the masses. 2018 has marked the emergence of several new stars in progressive music, perhaps none moreso than Dimuth K. The Sri Lankan artist has become one of his country’s hottest progressive house exports. Support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren along with a string of Beatport chart successes have made him one of the underground’s most in demand remixers. Now making his Juicebox Music debut he provides a stunning interpretation of ‘Razor’ by Ziger. Adding further nuance to the original, Dimuth takes a deeper approach with a spacious groove and resounding rhythms. A less distinct take on the lead theme draws you into its meditative qualities, as wispy effects and redolent motifs merge in the ultimate sonic marriage. A inspired interpretation from Dimuth who continues to impress, looking forward to what 2019 holds for this great talent. Hailing from Belarus, Ivan Shpakouski aka Ivanshee has been pushing his energetic brand of progressive house since 2011 with releases on Balkan Connection, Eternal Beats, JOOF Aura and Stellar Fountain’s Astrowave division. Now stepping up for his much anticipated Juicebox Music debut Ivanshee closes the release out with an lovely interpretation of Diyo’s ‘Underwater’. From pulsating beginnings comes anthemic vibes as emotive chord changes and fiery percussion fuel it’s peak time fervor. I’ve noted a psy-trance influence in Ivanshee’s work before and it’s quite a cool and unique touch. That sensibility is present here again, albeit quite mild but it’s acidic warbles definitely work wonders, flooding your senses and playing off the engaging top line beautifully. It’s been a landmark year for Praveen Achary's Juicebox Music. For those involved at the heart of the scene it’s become a special destination, a label that operates with precision and care. This release perfectly echoes that sentiment and paves the way for what should be an even better 2019.
