Releases Various Artists – Medellin Music Week [Onestar Records] By Release Promo Posted on 15th March 2019 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin The latest release from Onestar Records finds the label presenting the first installment of their Medellin Music Week Sampler. Running from March 16th to 24th, Medellin Music Week or MMW is a platform created to identify, educate and promote electronic and alternative forms of music in Latin America. Looking to raise further awareness Onestar Records celebrates and contributes to the week long event with the first edition of their Medellin Music Week Sampler, featuring (in order of appearance) Suntech & Jhonny LP, NuFects, Facundo Sosa, Paul Lennar and Emilio Coll & Lucciana. Onestar label bosses Suntech and Jhonny LP lead the collection off with their latest studio collaboration 'Dromedarius'. Coming from a pure progressive sensibility the Colombian duo use oriental motifs to transport your mind and soul to a spiritual place. A stripped down second act builds tension through drum fills and percussive splashes before smoothly seguing into an epic finale. Another excellent Colombian duo Nufects return to the label following their remix of Paul Lennar's 'Room View' from October of last year. Here they deliver a groovy, progressive minded cut entitled 'Ojiva' which delivers on multiple levels. Supremely hypnotic, it's hip-swinging groove and trance inducing arps take you on a colourful, kaleidoscopic ride, perfectly setting up a scaled back drop and percussive third act. More evidence that NuFects are back and fully integrated into the underground's cutting edge. Next up Facundo Sosa makes his label debut following several releases on Conjured Records to begin his career. The Buenos Aires based artist presents his all time best work with 'Symphonic' adding further emotional depth to the release. Spacious, smooth and full of radiant themes, it's a concise seven minute journey highlighted by a poignant tonal motif during the main break. Delicate in delivery yet powerful on many levels, it sparks a timely build and atmospheric drop which is sure to light up your dance floor. The journey continues with one of Colombia's longest running progressive artists Paul Lennar. The Bogota resident first appeared on Onestar with his 'Room View' single from October of last year and also lays claim to releases on Antrim's Or Two Strangers imprint and RPO Records. His contribution here 'Blue Garden' begins with warm, punchy beats and a robust groove which commands a big presence. Galloping rhythms bring sizable momentum all throughout the first act as cascading themes and fiery drums push tension to explosive levels during an epic main break. Definitely one for peak time and perhaps one of Paul's biggest tracks to date. The release concludes with Emilio Coll & Lucciana making their label debut. Having collaborated once in the past, all the way back in 2015 in fact, the Colombian duo now come together once again and close the collection out with 'Play Fx'. Dark and dramatic across it’s nine minute journey, it’s a sensory delight full of great dance floor dynamics. As mounds of bass roll forward, astral designs and stunning effects add a cosmic vibe, before eventually melting down into a wonderfully warped break that seals it's sonic appeal. A fresh sounding production from Emilio Coll & Lucciana capping off Onestar's first ever 'Medellin Music Week' collection in style. Highly recommended.
