Various Artists – Clubsonica Sampler, Vol. 4 [Clubsonica Records]

Clubsonica Records opens the fall season by unveiling the fourth edition of their Sampler Series. Following its debut in 2021, Clubsonica's Various Artists Sampler Series is now a regular and much anticipated offering in the label's catalog, fitting nicely alongside the MMW and ADE showcases which operate under a similar ethos. The trending series has been a platform not only for a wide assortment of upcoming talent, but also some of progressive music's most notable names in Golan Zocher & Greenage, Kamilo Sanclemente, Ric Niels and more. Now embarking on the fourth edition, Clubsonica boss Juan Pablo Torrez has compiled the series' most comprehensive volume to date, featuring new music from (in order of appearance): Cybek, Electric Dada, KAZKO, Mauricio Brigante, Ruben Karapetyan and Solis (US).

Making his label debut with selection one is Cybek. Hailing from France and inspired by Berlin's melodic techno scene of the mid-2000's, Xeridat Vincent aka Cybek first emerged last year with a string of releases on long running Spanish imprint Awen Tales. With a fresh approach to the melodic house genre, Cybek would enjoy a quick ascent, signing projects to Solee's Future Romance and Berlin based imprint IAMHER across the next calendar year. Now, continuing on an upwards trajectory, Cybek makes his Clubsonica debut with the astral sounds of 'Eternal'.

The second selection welcomes rising duo Electric Dada to the label with 'Branium'. Made up of German artists Jan de Vice and JP Silence, the Electric Dada alias was revealed to the world in 2020. The duo's progressive style was immediately recognized for its emotive qualities and strong dancefloor sensibility. A transcendent sound which would see them go on to release key projects via Dopamine White, Massive Harmony Records and Univack, while also earning praise from the underground's premiere tastemakers. With a recently released collaboration with roku's Da Luka, Electric Dada now make their Clubsonica debut with the smooth uplifting sounds of 'Branium'.

Moving forward to selection three is KAZKO who returns to the label with his latest studio creation 'Back to Paradise'. Hailing from Sri Lanka, KAZKO has emerged as one of his country's most promising electronic music talents. On the strength of early releases via Droid9 and Future Avenue, the Colombo resident would make his Clubsonica debut in 2022 with a contribution to the second edition of the label's Sampler Series, a track which still sits atop his Beatport best sellers. 2023 has proved to be a breakout year for KAZKO, adding projects for Freegrant Music, onedotsixtwo, Songuara and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden to his resume. Now, looking to build on the success of his label debut 'Sun Dance', KAZKO returns to Clubsonica with the organic vibes of 'Back to Paradise'.

The collection's fourth selection is provided by Mauricio Brigante who makes his label debut with 'Nma'. With a sound that often finds the creative space between progressive and tech house, Colombian artist Mauricio Brigante has found a home on BOOTH, Serrano's Kitchen and Exx Boundless, while electronic music tastemakers Claptone and Oxia have praised his work. Also, an influential figure in his country's nightlife, Mauricio co-founded The Zoo Festival, which sits as a premiere electronic music event in Colombia's southwest region. Now, looking to explore a deeper side of his studio repertoire, Mauricio makes his Clubsonica debut with the soulful sounds of 'Nma'.

Selection five finds Ruben Karapetyan returning to the label for his first original offering 'Hyperphantasia'. Born in Armenia but now calling Los Angeles home, Ruben Karapetyan has carved out a unique place in the electronic underground. His emotive synth leads, cross-cultural motifs and tough, dancefloor minded grooves have made for a resonant worldly sound that is all his own. On the strength of this fresh approach, Ruben has earned praise from trendsetters such as Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, while showcasing his music on the genre's premiere imprints in Meanwhile, Mango Alley, Movement and The Soundgarden. Having made his Clubsonica debut with a well-received remix of 'Kamikaze' by K Loveski and Geronimo Eguiguren, Ruben now lands back on the label with the deep and enchanting vibes of 'Hyperphantasia'.

The release concludes with Solis [US] making his label debut with 'Accelerator'. Based in Madison, American artist David Hammond aka Solis [US] first came to our attention in 2022 with a series of releases which showcased a cohesive blend of deep, melodic and progressive house. David's unique amalgamation of sound would earn him fans across all those genre spectrums, while landing key releases via Camel VIP and Tibetania Records. Moving forward with projects for Deep Down Music and Zephyr Music already in the pipeline, the American artist now embarks on the most anticipated project of his young career, making his Clubsonica debut with the darker monochromes of 'Accelerator'. Tastefully nostalgic, it rounds out a must have fourth edition of Clubsonica's Sampler Series, one where an array of talented artists showcases their best in organic, progressive and melodic house trends.
