Hailing from Estonia but now based in London, Urmet K has been crafted a unique brand of melodic house since first appearing on the scene in 2013. His tranquil take on the genre has found a home on HMWL, Poesie Musik, King Street Sounds and WAYU Records. Now embarking on the most anticipated release of his career, Urmet debuts on Magician On Duty with 'The Meeting' alongside remixes from Baez, Ian Mckenzie, Koelle and Valeron. Beginning with the title and showcase piece Urmet K's masterstroke is to collaborate and introduce the sublime vocals of Lazarusman. Responsible for the narrative in many of electronic music's most memorable tracks his vocal storyboard once again proves both compelling and emotive. On a bed of warm beats and a fluid groove, comes organic percussion and a hazy atmospheric resonance. Deep and meditative, yet energetic and uplifting, it's a sublime slice of melodic house that is sure to capture the imagination of your dance floor, and for the less vocally inclined there is also an instrumental version included as well. The companion piece 'Hedgehog In The Fog' is equally brilliant with warm slabs of bass and layers of organic drums coming together in a perfect rhythmic marriage. Although subtle, it’s emotive prowess is undeniable with delicate melodic motifs intertwining during the main break and ultimately setting up a purring finale. 'The Meeting' gets re-imagined across three remixes beginning with Baez who makes his label debut following releases on Constant Circles, LNDKHN, L'enfant terrible and Polyptych. The Bespoke Musik boss slows the tempo and opens up the groove for a delightfully spacious and organic sounding take. Reprocessed to perfection, the vocals translate incredibly well as afro drums and detailed percussion add a lazy yet vibrant cadence. A warm atmospheric glow grows elegantly as the storyboard progresses, eventually reaching a tasteful apex during the final break which seals it's poignant appeal. Next up Ian Mckenzie also makes his label debut with an inspired take on 'The Meeting'. Past releases on Get Physical offshoot Kindisch have been sensational and that momentum continues here. Sitting nicely between the Original and Baez's remix in terms of energy, Ian crafts a full bodied, percussive rendition that utilizes the vocal in a slightly less distinct and more fragmented fashion, while focusing on the rhythmic elements and overall atmospheric scope to profound effect. The third and final interpretation of 'The Meeting' is provided by Koelle who also makes his first appearance on the label. Laying claim to releases on Anjunadeep, Needwant and Songspire, the German artist makes his Magician On Duty debut with an inspired take on 'The Meeting'. Undeniably soulful, it’s free flowing narrative leads to a second act of hazy harmonics and shimmering tranquillity, before hopeful moments melt down to a delicate sizzle, as the warm groove and trailing vocals return for a heartfelt finale. The release concludes with Valeron providing the lone interpretation of 'Hedgehog In The Fog'. Born in Corfu but now based in Mykonos the Greek artist follows a string of releases on Bercana Music and Souq Records with a gorgeous take on 'Hedgehog In The Fog'. A touch more reflective in tone than the Original, it's contemplative nature is refreshing with wistful moments during the main break resonating on a profound level, nicely accented with clustered motifs and soulful instrumentation before effortlessly shifting energy into a deep, percussive finale. It caps off an expansive collection of music from Magician on Duty, one where each artist has operated at their creative peak, bringing emotion and groove together for a superb symphony of sound.
