Togni – Veda | You [Clubsonica Records]

Continuing to add new talent to their roster, Clubsonica welcomes Togni to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Brazil, Togni first emerged as a producer in 2021 with a string of releases via TheWav Records. Noted for his melodic yet club-effective approach, the Lajeado resident was quickly tipped as a name to watch in the world of melodic house and techno. Subsequent projects for BCSA and Polyptych Limited would land over the next two calendar years, further solidifying Togni's place amongst Brazil's rising talents. 2023 would see Togni further his career, making his debut as a DJ and performing at some of Brazil's top events in Sunset Sessions, Trama and Infusion, in addition to an excellent debut in Colombia. With 2024 already yielding standout releases via Calisto and Mind Connector, Togni now adds Clubsonica to his resume with 'Veda | You', alongside remixes from HAFT and Kebin Van Reeken.

Selection one 'Veda' sets the pace and lands with many of Togni's beloved production hallmarks. Tight kick drums and neatly manicured percussion provide a DJ friendly intro, as rhythmic pulses and fluttery melodic fragments add depth and space. Cruising smoothly across the first act, it's an array of wavy arps, creamy keys and dulcet chord stabs which make for an enduring theme, a vibe which is sure to cast an invigorating mood over the dance floor. The Brazilian's elusive vision shines during the main break, as he delivers a greater sense of tension through muted pianos, childlike vocal fragments and orbiting effects, a state of mind that astute fans will appreciate, before a striking build and buzzing drop sparks a strong key changing finale. The companion piece 'You' follows and showcases a more experimental side of Togni's repertoire. The Brazilian crafts a clever coax of tight triplet-style grooves, metallic synth mutations and drifting vocal phrases, for a vibe that is equal parts trippy and engaging. Tension and emotion are at a premium across the main break, with a darker monochrome making way for a calculated build and suitably uplifting finale.

Making their label debut with the lone interpretation of 'Veda' is HAFT. Hailing from Iran, Sam Nasehi and Amir Subb make up the HAFT production duo. A 2017 debut on Pipe & Pochet would establish the duo's blend of mesmerizing synths and exotic percussive arrangements, a sound which would lead them to releases via Akbal Music, Do Not Sit and Hoomidaas across the last half-decade. 2024 has seen HAFT continue to prosper and choose their projects wisely, notching standout releases for Mango Alley, RKP and Warung Recordings. Now, continuing on that upwards trajectory, HAFT makes their Clubsonica debut with a groovy take on 'Veda'. Landing with a resounding thump, HAFT finds success with a more robust, dancefloor minded approach. Shapely grooves and rolling percussion marry beautifully with flickering sonics and balmy atmospheres. Hopeful pads and trance inducing melodies take centrestage across the main break, bringing equal amounts of exhilaration and serenity, before clustered sonics and a wave of drums spark a groove-centric drop and swing heavy conclusion.

The release concludes with Kebin Van Reeken making his label debut with the lone interpretation of 'You'. Hailing from the Netherlands but now calling Argentina home, Kebin has made significant strides since emerging in 2019. Often finding a cohesive balance between progressive and melodic house and techno, the Cordoba resident has taken his cross-genre style to Beat Boutique, Freegrant Music, Traful, Sound Avenue, and his own Venture Records imprint, the latter of which acts as his primary home. With 2024 being highlighted by projects for Mango Alley, Univack and a standout remix for Mike Koglin and Moodfreak, Kebin now makes his Clubsonica debut with a thrilling take on 'You'. Bringing a progressive state of mind, Kebin carefully balances the themes from the original with his own 4x4 club-effective fusion. Timely effects, percolating acid lines and hopeful atmospheres steal the air atop thunderous beats and pulsating grooves; while a break of emotive swells and deconstructed vocals seals what is the ultimate dance floor bomb to round out the release.
