Releases The Cobb – Yana [-102 C] By Release Promo Posted on 4th April 2022 6 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Following on from the March release of 'Above Ground', The Cobb returns to -102C with a new single entitled 'Yana'. 2021 proved to be a breakout year for the Russian artist, as he continued to showcase a blend of organic and progressive house across his home labels of Deepwibe Underground and -102C. Perhaps most impressive was his 'Elements' anthology in conjunction with progressive music star Dmitry Molosh. The four release series went down as one of the years most ambitious projects and also gave us a look into a different side of Dmitry. Now continuing on an upwards trajectory, The Cobb presents his second single of year, alongside a remix from Erdi Irmak. As The Cobb continues to impress, it is the ethereal sounds of ‘Yana’ which set the course for the upcoming spring and summer seasons. Clocking in at eight magical minutes, a storyboard of voluptuous bass, dusty percussion and hazy atmospheres set the foundation. A uniquely hopeful vibe emanates from within this one, which an indistinct yet solemnly soulful vocal adds perfectly too. Splitting the two primary acts is a moderately tense break, complete with timely effects and rising modulation, eventually giving way to a glowing finale. A standout production from The Cobb and likely one of his most memorable tracks to date. The release concludes with Erdi Irmak making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of 'Yana'. The Turkish artist would have to be considered a veteran of the scene at this point, with over two hundred discography credits across his eleven year career. The emergence of organic house in 2018 proved to be an impactful time in Erdi’s evolution as a producer, inspiring him to champion the sound in his own creations, and eventually landing releases via Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Hoomidaas and Tale & Tone. Now adding -102C to his resume, Erdi turns in a gorgeous rendition of 'Yana'. From a deeper vision, the Turkish artist draws on the sensibilities of the original, working the vocal and a Spanish-style guitar motif over a bed of organic beats, exotic percussion and hazy harmonics. It's whimsical plucks add a wonderful swing to the groove overall, while a short but timely break perfectly sets the stage for an upbeat, drummy finale. Groovy and emotive in equal measure, it finds Erdi at this best and puts a resounding cap on a sensational new single from The Cobb and -102C. Highly recommended.
