TEELCO – Rosa dell’Alba [Soundteller Records]

Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes the talented TEELCO back to the label this week with ‘Rosa dell'Alba’. Hailing from Tirana, the Albanian artist first appeared on the Polish imprint in 2016 with a contribution to the label’s popular ‘Summer Sampler’ series. Now following a release on Michael & Levan and Stiven Rivic’s Mistique Music, TEELCO returns to Soundteller for his debut EP.

The title track is a gorgeous slice of deep, dreamy house which Soundteller has been exploring a lot more this year. Clocking in at 115 BPM, it’s charming melodies and warm, laid back groove work wonderfully together. Joyous and shimmering across it’s eight minute journey the main break proves to be the perfect interlude to open your pleasure centres up. Powerful bass tones and clattering percussion make for a mildly tense second act before the beats drop and the framework gets rebuilt into a DJ friendly finale.

The companion piece ‘Another World’ is equally gorgeous and clocks in at nearly eleven minutes in length. It’s a daunting running time but with astral arps, cross-cultural motifs and a low slung, chugging groove it’s quite easy to get lost in it’s hypnotic allure. It’s a piece in constant evolution through subtle modulation, cosmic effects and most notably a transcendent break which draws on all the emotive sensibilities of the piece. A wondrous journey from TEELCO which rounds out what would have to be considered his two finest productions to date. A great signing for Soundteller Records and definitely an artist to keep a close eye on in 2019.
