Releases Taylan – Joyride [Movement Recordings] By Release Promo Posted on 8th November 2023 8 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Tash's Movement Recordings opens the month of November by welcoming TAYLAN to the label for his debut EP. Based in Los Angeles, TAYLAN first emerged in 2021 with a series of melodic house and techno releases via his musicbytaylan imprint. Immediately recognized for his astral sound, TAYLAN would go on a creative swell across the next two calendar years, landing key projects via Beatfreak, Manual Music, Steyoyoke and more, making him a rising talent to watch going forward. Now, fresh off an EP for Clubsonica Records which has highlighted his year, TAYLAN makes his Movement Recordings debut with 'Joyride', alongside remixes from Matias Chilano and Kris Dur & Tomas Pablo. Drawing on a variety of smooth rhythmic concepts the EP begins with the title selection 'Joyride'. On a backbone of warm, buoyant beats comes mounds of perfectly contoured bass and a lively percussive cadence. Fluid yet electric, a soft atmospheric glow encases the framework, as timely stabs, haunting overlays and retro-effects unite in a perfect sonic marriage. The narrative shifts as a spoken word vocal emerges during the break, eventually melting down to a glowing melodic lead, perfectly processed for maximum emotional response, before shifting energy into a cosmic finale. Meanwhile, the companion piece 'The Jungle' focuses on a strong percussive narrative, with exotic drum arrangements layering beefed up beats and orbiting effects. Undeniably progressive, its chugging groove and deconstructed vocals create a smooth yet trippy energy into a short but timely break, before perfectly segueing into a groove-centric finale. Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Joyride' is Matias Chilano. As a regular on the label since making his debut in 2017, the Argentinean artist has delivered two EP's and four remixes across the last half-decade. Now considered a veteran of the progressive music scene, Matias continues to choose his projects wisely with standout releases for Higher States, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers, Proton Music and Sudbeat, while genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J remain steadfast supporters. Always a creative remixer, Matias now returns to the label with a groovy take on 'Joyride'. Beginning with a tough kick drum and chugging groove, the Buenos Aires resident dubs down the melodic energy of the original into something deeper and more introspective. Its rolling rhythms and detailed approach are sure to be a delight for progressive house aficionados, while the deconstructed vocals and tastefully musical break seal its dancefloor appeal. The release concludes with Kris Dur & Tomas Pablo making their label debut with the lone interpretation of 'The Jungle'. Hailing from Mexico and Chile respectively, both Kris and Tomas are relative newcomers to the progressive music landscape. Although just a year into their production careers, the duo boasts a collective discography highlighted by releases via Droid9, Future Avenue, Freegrant Music, Sound Avenue and more. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Kris and Pablo make their Movement Recordings debut with an excellent rendition of 'The Jungle'. Dark rebounding rhythms set the course for lively synth hooks, tripped out vocal fragments and bright percussive clusters. An astute contrast from the cross-continental duo, and one which leads to a memorable break. Grandiose melodies dominate the hopeful interlude, building tension and emotion with each successive pass, before the duo's creative attitude reveals itself during a thunderous drop and epic peak time finale.
