Releases Soulmade (AR) – Ground Under [RKP] By Release Promo Posted on 15th November 2024 9 min read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Ruben Karapentyan’s RKP travels to Argentina for their 25th offering, welcoming Soulmade to the label for his debut single. Based in Rosario, Nahuel V aka Soulmade has gained considerable momentum since adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. Armed with a progressive style that often finds a cohesive balance between the new and old school sounds of the genre, it was Soulmade’s first ever release, an EP project for Just Movement, which set the course for subsequent standout offerings via Balkan Connection, Droid9, Strangers Beats, Univack and more across the next three calendar years. Now, as 2024 reaches its second half, Soulmade continues on an upwards trajectory, adding RKP to his resume with ‘Ground Under’, alongside remixes from Kebin Van Reeken and Teom. The Orignal mix leads the release off in fine fashion, showcasing Soulmade’s timeless progressive style. Muscular kick drums and frayed percussion provide a DJ friendly intro, as rhythmic pulses and astral effects add depth and space. Cruising smoothly across the first act, it's an array of melodic fragments and dulcet chord stabs which make for an enduring theme, a vibe which is sure to cast a hopeful mood over the dance floor. The Argentine's elusive vision shines during the main break, as he delivers a greater sense of atmosphere through hopeful cascades and swirling textures, before a striking build and buzzing drop sparks a chugging finale. The first interpretation of ‘Ground Under’ is provided by Kebin Van Reeken who makes his label debut. Hailing from the Netherlands but now calling Argentina home, Kebin has made significant strides since emerging in 2019. Often finding a cohesive balance between progressive and melodic house and techno, the Cordoba resident has taken his cross-genre style to Beat Boutique, Freegrant Music, Traful, Sound Avenue, and his own Venture Records imprint, the latter of which acts as his primary home. With 2024 being highlighted by projects for Mango Alley, Univack and a standout remix for Mike Koglin and Moodfreak, Kebin now makes his RKP debut with a groovy rendition of ‘Ground Under’. Landing with a resounding thump, Kebin finds success with a tighter, dancefloor minded approach. Punchy kick drums and spacious grooves marry beautifully with flickering percussion and charming atmospheres as the first act takes shape. Hopeful pads and trance inducing melodies take centrestage across the main break, bringing equal amounts of anticipation and serenity, before a striking vocal sample cues a stripped drop and percussion driven finale. The release concludes with Teom making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of ‘Ground Under’. Hailing from Armenia, Taode Masihi aka Teom first established himself as a DJ. Operating within Yerevan’s vibrant nightlife, Teom built a loyal fanbase in relatively short order, with a sound that cleverly co-axes the sub-genres of house, from afro to progressive and organic. 2019 would then mark Toem’s production debut with contributions to Art Vibes’ popular Winter Vibes series, a project that would see the Yerevan resident go on to land releases via Hoomidaas, Pandhora and Proton’s Particles. Now, presenting his first project of 2024, Teom makes an impressive RKP debut with a grooved out rendition of ‘Ground Under’. Taking a more stripped but equally powerful dancefloor approach, Teom constructs a tight rhythmic core, complemented with punchy beats, detailed percussion and reprocessed sonics. It's this sturdy framework which sets the foundation for a storyboard of wavy arps, retro acid lines and dreamy melodies, a fusion of sound which ultimately makes for a version that is both versatile and club-effective to close the release out on a timeless note.
