Releases Sohrab G. – Runaway [Balkan Connection] By Release Promo Posted on 2nd November 2018 0 second read 0 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Reddit Share on Linkedin Sohrab G. makes his Balkan Connection debut this week with 'Runaway'. Hailing from Tehran, Sohrab first appeared on the progressive scene in 2016 with releases on 3rd Avenue and Soundteller Records. Recent appearances on Asymmetric Dip, PHW Elements and Stellar Fountain have made for a great 2018, ultimately leading to his first release on Balkan Connection release alongside remixes from Ampish, Dante Pippi & Demitros and Mauro Augugliaro. 'Runaway' comes with a deep vibe that immediately sucks you into its spiritual narrative. Tough beats, crisp percussion and rugged rhythms make for a very groovy framework early on, perfectly paving the way for wispy atmospherics and angelic vocal pads. It's a storyboard which evolves during the main break, building subtly before getting washed away in favour of the powerful groove, which ultimately spearheads a heady finale. Balkan Connection has put together a great remixer cast lead by Ampish who makes his label debut. Initially known by his given name of Hazem Beltagui, the Egyptian artist has established the Ampish moniker as one of his country's top progressive music acts. His Balkan Connection debut does disappoint as he takes 'Runaway' into driving territory with great results. The tempo shifts up and the beats get tightened for a more minimalistic, modern sounding groove, which still manages to evoke some nice emotion with free flowing harmonics and clustered motifs. Next up is Dante Pippi & Demitros who also make their Balkan Connection debut here. The Brazilian duo made their collaborative debut on Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint in July of this year before going on to appear on Proton's Particles in August. Now making their first appearance on Balkan Connection the duo deliver a poignant rendition of 'Runaway'. Anchored by thick slabs of bass and swing heavy rhythms it's a mix that delivers on both groove and emotion, the latter of which gets setup perfectly during the first act and fully realized with an interlude of wispy atmospherics and delicate melodic motifs. The release concludes with Mauro Augugliaro returning to the label for his second appearance following a contribution to Sudbeat's 'Showcrates' 4 collection. In a mix that spans over nine minutes in length Mauro crafts a punchy, minimalistic groove while making great use of the vocal elements for a highly memorable break. Sitting as the emotional core of the piece it's an expansive interlude with cross cultural vibes and a never-ending supply of dramatic overtones. A lovely remix from Mauro which caps off a special release from Balkan Connection. Don't miss it.
