SEQU3L – Our Summer Trips [Soundteller Records]

Deersky’s Soundteller Records continues its 2018 journey in a big way this week with a brand new single from SEQU3L. Hailing from India, Nakul Ambilkar aka SEQU3L has long been regarded as one of his country’s top progressive house exports. Releases on Juicebox Music and Movement Recordings highlight his discography and he now adds Soundteller to his portfolio with the much anticipated ‘Our Summer Trips’.

One of if not the biggest tracks in SEQU3L’s discography is ‘Timelapse’ and ‘Our Summer Trips’ is certainly on par with it. The peak time sensibility it carries is undeniable and it begins with a warm, hefty groove complete with heavy swing. Like all SEQUEL productions the electronics are super crisp and come with intricate detail but it’s the quality of hooks which are astounding. So rhythmic and free flowing it’s just hard not to fall in love with this one. A definite dance floor killer.

The remix is provided by Chris Cargo who returns to the label for his second appearance. Soundteller had a huge part in Chris’ comeback last year as the label released his first project (the Paragon EP) back after many years. It lead to what was a sensational year for the Irish producer and he’s only gaining more momentum with each successive release. He nails yet another solid remix here with a darker, chuggy rendition of ‘Our Summer Trips’. The brooding mood is a lovely complement to the uplifting original and the lead elements are quite mystical sounding, particularly during a third act fueled by strong atmospherics.

The release concludes with Pysh making his debut appearance on the label. The Polish artist has a rich history in electronic music since his first release in 2009. Releases on Einmusika and Manjumasi highlight his discography while his sound stretches the boundaries from deep to progressive house with effortless ease. Now making his first appearance on Soundteller, Pysh provides a bouncy, progressive rework of 'Our Summer Trips'. The tempo shifts up and the energy follows suit with a galloping groove and dark electronics paving the way. Much like Chris' it's an amazing contrast to the original and the staggered unpredictability it carries is quite stimulating. A superb remix from Pysh which rounds out a massive release for Deersky's Soundteller Records.
