Tash’s Movement Recordings rounds out the month of September with a new EP from the Savrun Brothers. Made up of real life brothers Kenan and Mahmuthan Savrun, the duo have compiled an impressive resume since the moniker’s debut in 2020. Early releases via Mistique Music and Soundteller Records paved the way for standout projects via Droid9 and Mango Alley across the next four calendar years, while Kenan has continued to operate in solo capacity, notching discography credits for MNL, RKP, Suza Records and Univack. Now paired once again following a contribution to Mango Alley’s ‘Augmented 012’ collection, the Savrun Brothers add Movement Recordings to their resume with ‘Phantasm’, alongside remixes from Matias Chilano and Stereo Munk.

The title track gets the release underway and sits as one of the duo’s most club-effective productions to date. Punchy kick drums and perfectly contoured grooves set the foundation for a narrative of pulsating rhythms, transcendent vocals and timely effects. Quirky synth mutations emerge across the first act, creating a lively path into the main break. Percolating and evolving across the interlude, anticipation and emotion only elevate further, before eventually melting down to a quiet calm and suitably stripped back finale. Beneath the groovy qualities of ‘Phantasm’ lies the equally impressive vibes of ‘Tokio’. Opting for a deeper yet groovy approach, the duo flexes their rhythmic prowess once again, as cross-cultural vocals and glassy arps descend over swing heavy percussion and over warm contoured grooves, for what results in a perfect mid-set record.

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Phantasm’ is Matias Chilano. As a regular on the label since making his debut in 2017, the Argentinean artist has delivered two EP's and five remixes across the last half-decade. Now considered a veteran of the progressive music scene, Matias continues to choose his projects wisely with standout releases for Higher States, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers, Proton Music and Sudbeat, while genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J remain steadfast supporters. Always a creative remixer, Matias now returns to the label with a thrilling rendition of 'Phantasm'. Matias’ veteran production chops serve him well here as he crafts a seven-minute journey that is bursting with buzzing effects and a keen sense of rhythm and groove. Flowing through phasing textures and rich design qualities, the first act evolves with an effortless ease, eventually revealing an emotive break complete with a tasteful marriage of hopeful pads and haunting vocals, an appealing coax that is sure captovate even the most discerning of dancefloors.

The release concludes with Stereo Munk returning to the label for the lone interpretation of ‘Tokio’. Based in Pakistan, Stereo Munk would establish himself within the country's electronic music scene through early releases via Massive Harmony Records and Zephyr Music. Often finding a creative balance between progressive and organic house, the Islamabad resident has since taken his superlative sound to well established imprints such as Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Plattenbank and more, while earning support from genre trendsetters Guy Mantzur and Hernan Cattaneo. Also finding a home on Movement Recordings, Stereo Munk would make his label debut in 2022 with a contribution to the imprint's popular 'Technical Progress' series, a release which would lead to an EP project for the label’s Limited affiliate and a second appearance on ‘Technical Progress’ earlier this year. Now, making a welcome return to Movement’s primary platform, Stereo Munk dials in a groovy rendition of ‘Tokio’. Opting for a tougher, more club-effective approach, Stereo Munk's colourful monochromes, swaying rhythms and funked-up grooves make this ideal for a broad range of dancefloors, in turn adding another weapon to your arsenal for the fall club season.
