Santiablo – Landslide [Clubsonica Records]

The latest release from Clubsonica Records welcomes Santiablo to the label for his debut single. Based in New York City, the American producer first arrived in 2020, showcasing his brand of progressive techno through label's like Dirty Humans, Neu Gravity, Subsolar Music and Techno Never Dies. As an emerging DJ, Santiablo curates his S.O.S and Submissions podcast series, while also programming music for Brooklyn's highly regarded Silver Factory. Now embarking on the most anticipated release of his young career, Santiablo debuts on Clubsonica with 'Landslide' alongside remixes from EANP and Jan Dalvik.

The release begins with the dark and muscular lines of the original mix. Sonically charged, it's robust low end, rolling rhythms and kaleidoscopic arps unite in a ball of electric energy. The first act evolves with the dance floor in mind, building waves of tension as layers of percussion and timely modulation add to its dramatic appeal. Putting emotion at a premium, the narrative shifts as a vocal motif takes centre stage during the main break, sitting atop rolling percussion and flowing through impassioned phrasing before a dynamic roll sparks a commanding drop and spirited finale.

Returning to the label and providing the first interpretation of 'Landslide' are EANP. Having worked together since 2014 it wasn't until 2018 that Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca decided to coin the EANP alias for their collaborative efforts. The moniker has taken off and seen them land releases on Antrim's Or Two Strangers, Balance Music, Beatfreak and Mango Alley, while earning continued support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren. Having made their Clubsonica debut in 2018 with a remix of 'Dubrovnik' by Pacco and Rudy B and Jaksa Pavicevic, EANP now makes a welcome return to the label with a powerful take on 'Landslide'. Engaging from the outset, the duo's dark beats and rhythmic pulses converge for a powerful foundation, while driving percussion and astral asps bring colour and texture. Building an engaging narrative across the first act, fragmented vocals layer the electric framework as the main break approaches. Opening up for emotive moments, the vocal comes to life as the interlude evolves, set against a backdrop of charming atmospheres before trailing off into a finale of buoyant beats and fiery arps.

Also returning to the label and providing the second and final interpretation of 'Landslide' is Jan Dalvik. Based in Stuttgart, the German artist has been widely regarded as a sound engineer for over two decades. Working under a variety of collaborative alias' until 2017, Jan then decided it was time to share his creative prowess through solo productions under his given name. Releases on Great Stuff Recordings, WHATPLAY, The Purr Music and his own Romantica Records imprint quickly established the German artist. With December of 2019 marking Jan's Clubsonica debut with his well received 'Mahat' single, the German artist now returns to the label with a classy rendition of 'Landslide'. Built around a series of tantalizing, trance inspired arps, the first act is well fashioned for peak time play, with it's driving groove and pulsating rhythms commanding attention from the outset. Stripping down into the main break, a quiet calm comes over the arpeggiated landscape, expertly opening up as the rippling groove builds towards a hazy, atmospheric finale. A gorgeous remix from Jan Dalvik which rounds out a hugely successful Clubsonica debut for Santiablo.
