Sahar Z – Mixed Feelings / Zikaron [Lost & Found]

Guy J's Lost & Found enters the spring season by welcoming Sahar Z back to the label for a new EP. The Israeli artist has been at the heart of Tel Aviv’s electronic music scene for over two decades. As one of the country’s most highly touted DJs, Sahar's exquisite programming skills have seen him travel the world, showcasing his unique dance floor vision. As an artist he chooses his projects wisely, with John Digweed's Bedrock Records, Anjunadeep and EDGE being notable landing spots. Now returning to his comfortable home of Lost & Found, Sahar unveils his first two original productions of the year 'Mixed Feelings' and 'Zikaron'.

Nicely dialled for the warmer weather it's the tranquil sounds of 'Mixed Feelings' that lead the release off. A staple of Sahar's sets for some time, it's meditative concepts, intriguing vocal loop and exotic percussion marry wonderfully over a bed of radiant bass. Elegant and tasteful, emotive overlays gently advance the narrative, while unique sonic artifacts accent the rising atmospheres onward to a dreamy finale.

The companion piece 'Zikaron' finds Sahar moving closer to the dance floor with a cohesive blend of emotive and rhythmic themes. Deep, detailed and undeniably groovy, it’s a tranquil journey into the depths of organic house. Shimmering motifs and layers of exotic percussion pair nicely, set against a foundation of rolling beats and perfectly contoured bass. It's compelling build is eventually realized during a moment of triumphant instrumentation during the main break. Almost childlike in nature, it's youthful energy serves as an emotive bridge into a driving finale. It's been over two years since we've heard solo Originals from Sahar and these have made the wait more than worthwhile. Two stunning creations which are sure to find their way into a broad range of DJ sets. Highly recommended.
