The Greek artist first came to our attention in 2022 with releases via Future Avenue, Nordic Voyage and Suprematic. Recognized for his organic sound, the Athens resident made his Stellar Fountain debut earlier this month with a remix of Leaman's 'Adishi'. Now, returning to the label for his first artist EP, RossAlto unveils a three-track showcase entitled 'Volcano'. Selection one ‘Lava’ finds RossAlto crafting a deep and charming creation which sets the tone for the EP. Warm and inviting throughout, it's an arrangement of vocal fragments and plush chord stabs with ultimately push the narrative, while a heartrending break finds a perfect balance of tension of emotion, before pushing onwards to finale of timeless arps. Selection two ‘Magma’ follows and finds a perfect state of mind for a daytime dance floor. Chunky bass stabs and spongy beats marry for a sturdy yet spacious low end, as layers of percussion build and Mediterranian style motifs carry energy into the break. The interlude brings a calming effect with smooth harmonic phrasing and sweeping effects captivating the senses and leading to youthful sounding finale. The release concludes with ‘Pompei’ which once again finds the Greek artist working a variety of strong organic themes. Dulcet grooves and haunting atmospherics create a profoundly emotional mood throughout, perfectly playing off heartfelt chord stabs and exotic drum arrangements, ultimately leading to a heavenly finale. It rounds out three stunning tracks from RossAlto who makes an impressive return to Stellar Fountain here. Highly recommended.
