The latest release from Higher States finds label boss Roger Martinez presenting a new two-track showcase. Comparable to the path of his contemporaries, Dutch artist Roger Martinez has found a way to create a personal universe by exploring electronic sounds, and ultimately finding his own place in the trend-driven state of underground dance music. With a career now spanning well over a decade, Roger's transcendent style has long been a favourite of the world's top DJs. Cid Inc, Eelke Kleijn, John Digweed, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Sasha have all been steadfast supporters over the years, and remain as progressive music continues to grow and evolve. The genre's most highly regarded imprints have also served as landing spots for Roger's hypnotizing sounds, with Lost & Found, Replug and Sudbeat sitting prominently on his resume. Also, beloved as a DJ, Roger's elusive style has seen him travel the world, enchanting crowds with his impeccable taste and exquisite programming skills. Always choosy in his projects, Roger’s 2023 has been highlighted by the ‘De Machtige Trip’ Remix Edition, a re-imagination release where fellow countryman and progressive house phenom Alex O’Rion, alongside Roger himself took to updating the beloved track in grand fashion. Looking to continue that forward momentum, Roger now returns to his comfortable home of Higher States for his first Original project of the year 'Dimensional / Renaissance'.

Selection one 'Dimensional' lands in impressive fashion with its rejuvenating energy. Big, bold and magnificent; yet intricately crafted with perfectly contoured beats and serene meditative textures. There's a strong sense of cruising across the first movement, allowing the listener to relish in the groove, examining phrases before leaving them behind for a smudge of atmospheric colour and euphoric overlays. Balancing the mix, Roger's trance-inducing touches radiate throughout the production's second movement, adding an air of sophisticated musicality to a mature no-frills arrangement.

Companion piece ‘Renaissance’ follows with a newly sprawling, saga-like story to tell. Unique in design and execution; its undulant bass tones, orbiting effects and airy synth mutations are curative, all while maintaining a sense of urgency and spontaneity that astute dancefloors will appreciate. The centrepiece carefully reels the listener in, as thickets of buzz swell and intensify across its charming architecture, eventually revealing a cross-cultural vocal theme to send the piece into one final exhilarating stretch.
