Tripp Baronner’s Yang imprint once again revisits Rick Pier O’Neil’s excellent ‘One Side of the Underground, Vol. 1’ collection. Having already rejuvenated ‘Glade’ in April of this year with a new interpretation from Martin Merkal, we now see the label inviting Gai Barone to work his magic on ‘Earth Mover’.

In the electronic underground there are a select few artists who just seem to have magic in their bones. For progressive house you can pretty much count them on one hand and Gai Barone is most certainly among that select group. The Italian artist has shaped his own unique sound over the last decade or more, one where emotion and feeling is at a premium. In a sea of forgettable tracks that make their way on to the platform of your choice, Gai crafts memorable music to hold close to your heart. His interpretation of ‘Earth Mover’ is no different as he brings a fresh, cross pollinated sound to the thematic elements from the original. Devilish arps intertwine with rippling bass tones, leading to a dramatic yet incredibly reflective and hopeful sounding break. The contrast in emotion is highly compelling, while the dark re-entry and stunning effects seal it’s peak time dance floor appeal. Another brilliant production from Gai who always seems to be on the money. Highly recommended.
