Redspace & Radieux – Scintilla [RKP]

Ruben Karapetyan's RKP imprint rounds out a successful first year by welcoming Redspace and Radieux to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from Russia, Redspace first emerged in 2020 with a series of self-released projects. Immediately recognized for his club-friendly sound, the fast-rising phenom would go on to land releases via Area Verde, Freegrant Music and more across the next two calendar years, in turn earning the praise of Ferry Corsten, John Digweed and Paul Van Dyk. 2023 has seen Redspace operate at his most prolific frequency to date, with projects for Eat My Hat Music, Stripped, Univack and Yomo Records highlighting what has been a strong year. Meanwhile, Radieux has enjoyed similar success across his near five-year production career. With well over a decade's worth of DJ experience, the Slovenian born artist has been a fixture at some of the world's premiere clubs and festivals, sharing the stage with John Digweed, Nick Warren, Solomun and more. Upon creating the Radieux alias in 2019, the fast rising artist took his melodic sound to Artessa Music and Chrom Recordings with great success, before eventually finding a home on Beat Boutique, Eat My Hat, MNL and Soundteller. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Redspace and Radieux make their debut on RKP with a three-track showcase entitled 'Scintilla'.

Redspace and Radieux continue to explore modern progressive house sensibilities on the lead selection 'Scintilla'. Sleek and refined, it's a framework of tough kick drums and rippling bass tones which lay the foundation for gritty percussion and emerging atmospheres to create a strong sense of cruising. Warm atmospheres and wispy effects take centrestage across the break, bringing with them a tranquil lead theme, before giving way to a tension filled build and groovy melodic finale.

Selection two 'Eloquence' lands in equally impressive fashion and finds the duo expressing a deeper side of their repertoire. It's a selection of chunky grooves, effervescent percussion and misty melodies which elevate the mood set by its predecessor. Energies continue to shift and emotion rises across the main break, with billowing piano-stabs and heartrending themes tastefully building anticipation towards a finale that is sure to cast a spell over the listener.

The EP's final offering 'Quasars' follows and further cements the duo's dancefloor minded ethos. Its low-slung drive is anchored by rocketing beats and a forest of percussive splashes, tastefully building to a wild-eyed intensity of percolating melodies and sweeping effects. With an energy that exudes confidence, Redspace and Radieux pull from their expansive repertoire as the main break takes shape, surveying a selection of emotive swells and acid-like accents, perfectly setting up a stripped drop and glowing melodic finale for the ultimate rush to round out the EP in style.
