Redspace & ISMAIL.M – Jamevu EP [RKP]

Ruben Karapentyan’s RKP welcomes Redspace and ISMAIL.M back to the label for their second EP project. Hailing from Russia and Bulgaria respectively, both Redspace and ISMAIL.M have made their mark on the electronic underground through successful solo productions. The duo's combined discography is highlighted by releases via Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Transensations and Univack, while world class DJs Black Coffee, Dubfire, John Digweed, Mind Against and more have been supporters along the way. April of this year marked the duo’s RKP debut with the release of ‘Avenue’, a two-track showcase which delivered significant dancefloor attention across the spring season. Now paired once again for RKP, Redspace and ISMAIL.M return to the label with ‘Jamevu’.

Beginning with the groovy monochromes of 'Jamevu’, the duo continues to explore the modern progressive blueprints from which they have made their name. A DJ friendly intro sets the pace for swing heavy rhythms, vibrant arps and grainy effects to layer a tough, chunky bassline. Carving out an energetic path into the break, anticipation is high, as the interlude melts down to a quiet calm, with percolating arps and astral sonics eventually revealing menacing chord stabs for a suitably powerful finale.

Beneath the engaging qualities of 'Jamevu' lies the equally intriguing vibes of 'Players'. Redspace and ISMAIL.M expound their lavish future vision here, with obsessive rhythms and hyperspace sonics blanketing punishing beats and crunchy grooves. Clever textural co-actions marry lively synth lines and finely tuned percussion, while a hypnotic break complete with a tension filled build preludes a finale of jet force propulsions. A fitting ending to an excellent RKP return for Redspace and ISMAIL.M, two up and coming talents who continue to operate at a creative and prolific level.
