Reboq – Masked Feelings EP [Polyptych]

As the winter season draws closer, Polyptych welcomes Reboq to the label for his debut EP. Based in the north east of Italy, Enrico Trevis aka Reboq has been involved in house and techno for over a decade. 2009 marked his production debut where he operated under a variety of monikers, earning support from world class DJs such as Roger Sanchez, until 2019 saw the birth of Reboq. With a focus on melodic house and techno, Enrico has compiled an impressive catalog for Reboq, ultimately leading to his Polyptych debut 'Masked Feelings'.

Beginning with the groovy, melodious sounds of 'It's Over' it’s clear Enrico has crafted some of his best ever work. Fresh and emotive across a near eight minute journey, it’s a sensory delight full of great dance floor dynamics. As mounds of bass ripple, poignant vocals marry bubbly arps and charming overlays for a powerful first act. A piano motif then advances the narrative as the the breakdown commences, flowing through heartfelt cascades as the vocal creates a colourful canopy leading into an exhilarating finale.

The companion piece ‘Illusion of Us’ comes with a similar sonic ethos and complements it's predecessor very well. Warm beats and harmonious bass swells lay the foundation for soulful vocals and percussive flurries. Tranquil lines set an emotive mood as the narrative evolves, with smooth chord changes only adding to their poignant charm. The main break furthers the grandiose appeal, as wistful overlays, fragmented vocals and astral arps unite, resulting in a near two minute stretch of meditative bliss. It rounds out an inspired EP from Reboq, making his debut EP for Polyptych a most memorable one. Highly recommended.
