Pablo German – Yugen [Stellar Fountain]

Pablo German returns to Stellar Fountain for his first single entitled 'Yugen'. Hailing from Argentina, the Neuquen resident made his debut on the Hungarian imprint in April of last year with a well-received remix of 'Magnetar' by Aeikus, which he followed up with projects for aboriginal, Mango Alley and Soundteller. Pablo now embarks on his first single for Stellar Fountain alongside remixes from Nursultan Kun and Ilya Gerus.

Pablo's original starts the release with a deeper yet still progressive minded vibe. Warm, full grooves in combination with wavy arps, smooth rhythmic pulses and flickering percussive arrangements set the course early on. Sweeping effects and pixie-like fragments add colour leading into the break, where Pablo adds nice emotional touches, foreshadowing a fluid, key changing finale.

Returning to the label and providing the first remix is Nursultan Kun. The Kazakhstani artist delivered an EP and remix for Stellar Fountain in 2021, while also landing releases via Amulanga, Immersed, Massive Harmony and The Purr. Bringing his organic sound back to Stellar Fountain once again, Nursultan provides a gorgeous take on 'Yugen'. Concise at under six minutes in length, it's a blend of warm beats, dusty percussion and glowing harmonics which ultimately win you over. A heartfelt break highlights the journey however, bringing further colour and emotion, before seguing into a finale that is equal parts joyous and groovy.

The release concludes with long time label artist Ilya Gerus providing the second and final remix. Following on from the strength of his December remix of 'Breeze' by Ruh (SE), the Russian artist delights again with a lush rendition of 'Yugen'. Punchy, warm and undeniably organic; its chunky low end, charming effects and whimsical lead work in perfect sonic unison. An peaceful centrepiece splits the acts in perfect time, providing a serene stop long the way, and setting the stage for a groovy, percussive finale. A gorgeous interpretation from Ilya, which rounds out a welcome return to the label for Pablo German, who impresses once again with ‘Yugen’.
