Nimbus [BR] – Spectral Illusion [SLC-6 Music]

Presenting their second release of 2025, D.J. MacIntyre’s SLC-6 Music welcomes Nimbus (BR) to the label for their debut single. Hailing from Brazil, Tom and Venao make up the newly coined Nimbus production moniker. First operating as a DJ duo, the pair founded UNNIT, an event promotion to support Brazil’s vibrant nightlife. As a producer Venao has already achieved measurable success across his four year solo career. Releases via Balkan Connection, Comet Records, Deep Down Music and Electronic Groove sit prominently on his discography, while support from progressive music trendsetters Ezequiel Arias, GMJ, Hernan Cattaneo and Mariano Mellino, amongst others, has propelled him into the forefront of Brazil’s burgeoning progressive scene. SLC-6 has also been a landing spot for Venao, with his label debut coming in May of last year. Now, paired with Tom as Nimbus, the duo make their production debut via SLC-6 with ‘Spectral Illusion’, alongside remixes from Leandro Murua and Dr Green.

‘Spectral Illusion’ sets the tone for the Nimbus sound with an energetic peaktime flavour. Punishing kick drums and muscular grooves set the pace for skittered rhythms, arcane effects and fuzzed out arps to create a semi-conscious sonic journey, one that is sure to light up your dancefloor. Making his label debut with the first remix is Argentinian artist Leandro Murua, who arrives on the label following projects for Juicebox Music, Mango Alley and Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden. The Cordoba resident opts for a different mood and vibe, relying on swaying grooves, hypno-rhythms and slowburn progression to cast a meditative spell over the listener. Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of ‘Spectral Illusion’ is SLC-6 label manager Dr Green. Beloved for his cross-cultural sound, the Sri Lankan artist brings a contemporary progressive vibe to the piece, expertly working exotic percussive arrangements over energized chord stabs and low slung grooves.
