The latest release from Just Movement finds the label welcoming Nicolas Barbieri to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the progressive music hotbed of Buenos Aires the Argentinean artist already lays claim to releases on Balkan Connection South America and Michael A’s Genesis Music. Now following a remix for Superordinate Music, Nicolas debuts on Just Movement with ‘Flying Soul’.

The title cut begins with a free flowing feel, marked by organic percussion and a variety of strong rhythmic elements. Backed by a deep, rolling groove it’s momentum is palpable, moving forward with a redolent air. Wispy atmospherics and melancholic tones lead nicely into the break where timely modulation and escalating atmospherics converge for wistful moments. Delicate yet tense, a trail of sonic decay heightens emotion as the warm, bulbous groove drops for a fluid finale.

The sonic ethos of the EP is maintained in the companion piece ’Mystical Forest’. A chunkier, more open groove sits at the foundation while delicate overlays and trailing melodies add an air of melancholy once again. Smooth chord changes and a smooth effects storyboard bring further depth and emotion, perfectly foreshadowing a reflective break which sits at the emotional core of the piece. Groovy and poignant in equal measure, it rounds out an inspired EP from Nicolas, who looks to be one of Argentina’s fastest rising progressive music talents as 2019 moves forward.
