Hailing from Brazil, Mariz first emerged with releases via Awen Tales and Three Hands Records. Immediately recognized for his amalgamation of progressive house and melodic techno, the São Paulo resident quickly became a new producer to watch. The next two calendar years saw further successes for Mariz, with releases via Hiato Music, Running Clouds and Warung Recordings highlighting his discography. Astral has also been a landing spot for the talented Brazilian, with his label debut ‘Black Sky’, landing in 2023 amidst much praise, a project which would propel him to subsequent releases via ERRORR and ZAMNA Records. Meanwhile, also hailing from Brazil is Nery, a DJ and producer for the better part of two decades. Renowned as a DJ having performed alongside David Guetta, Steve Aoki and Tiesto, the Brazilian artist has also made considerable strides as a producer. A superlative string of releases via Ame Records, ERRORR, Sony and Virgin have yielded support from Fideles, Innellea, Kasia, Kevin de Vries, Korolova and Rebuke, amongst others. Now, combining their extensive forces for the first time, Mariz and Nery debut on Astral Records with ‘Runaway’, alongside remixes from Q.U.A.K.E and Monophase. Utilizing a heartfelt vocal, Mariz and Nery craft a club-effective journey that should leave long-lasting memories both on and off the dancefloor. Arriving in good time for the winter season, the Brazilian duo’s charged grooves and epic lead themes add another dimension to the piece as the main break approaches. Expertly reprocessed, the vocal narrative highlights the interlude, one complete with colourful monochromes and rich character, tailored perfectly to carry the proceedings onwards through a synth driven drop and thunderous finale. Returning to the label for the first interpretation of ‘Runaway’ is Q.U.A.K.E. Netanel Assaraf aka Q.U.A.K.E have been a fixture of the electronic underground for over a decade. Operating at the heart of the melodic house and techno movement, he has amassed an impressive resume, with standout projects via ERRORR, Running Clouds, Spectrum, and Miss Monique's Siona Records. Astral Records has also been a primary landing spot for his elusive sound, with four discography credits spread across the last two years, the latest of which being 2024’s ‘Introspection’, a project recorded alongside KASIA (ofc) and Vincenzo Sarti. Having ended the year with a pair of vehicles for Running Clouds, Q.U.A.K.E. now opens 2025 with a stunning rendition of ‘Runaway’. Adding further depth to the release, Q.U.A.K.E. opts for a peak time approach, focusing on a dynamic blend of warm grooves, deconstructed vocals and panoramic chord stabs, while tastefully incorporating the original's distinctive sonic traits, sealing what is an emotive journey to complement its predecessor in fine style. The release concludes with Monophase returning to the label for the second and final interpretation of ‘Runaway’. Hailing from Italy, Francesco and Davide make up the Monophase creative collective. First emerging in 2019, the duo was quickly recognized for their dark atmospheric sound. Releases via DOA Electronic, Running Clouds, Somatic and Steyoyoke were well-received, making the duo a fast rising act within the world of melodic house and techno. Support from Tale Of Us and Kevin di Vries would follow shortly thereafter, propelling the duo to subsequent projects via Automatik, Impressum and ZAMNA. Perhaps most notable however was a contribution to Afterlife’s popular ‘Realm Of Consciousness’ series with ‘Elevate’, a club-effective piece co-produced with acclaimed German artist Recondite. With 2023’s ‘Last Shred of Light’ marking their Astral Records debut, Monophase now finds their way back to the label for a powerful remix of ‘Runaway’. Flowing through poignant synth swagger and uplifting themes, the first act not only balances a dark light dynamic perfectly, but also evolves with an effortless ease, eventually revealing an emotive break complete with a tasteful marriage of re-processed vocals and muted tonal themes; an appealing coax that is sure to captivate even the most discerning of dancefloors, before a finale that is equal parts electric and emotive ensues.
