Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP welcomes Nacres back to the label for his second single ‘Arcadia’. With a career that spans three decades, Turkish artist Nacres was a fixture of his country’s nightlife for many years, DJing at some of Istanbul’s trendiest venues, most notably Andromeda, Club 2019 (Twenty) and Taxim Night Park. A lengthy hiatus from the industry would see Nacres return in 2018 when his career as a producer would officially begin. On the strength of early tracks 'Nibiru' and 'Grand Jete', the Turkish artist established himself amongst the progressive house community and inturn landed releases via Bonzai Records, Droid9 and his own Soundeluxe imprint. The next five calendar years would see the Istanbul resident go on to record key projects for AH Digital and Mango Alley. Ruben Karapetyan’s RKP would also become a home for Nacres, with his label debut coming in 2023 with ‘Naturalize’, a release which would lead to a 2024 remix of ‘Red Lights From Afar’ by Maze 28. Now, making a welcome return to RKP, Nacres delivers his second single for the label ‘Arcadia’, alongside remixes from Jelly For The Babies and Evegrem.
Beginning with the original mix, Nacres crafts a slice of timeless progressive house which is perfectly dialled for the dancefloor. Full of darker monochromes and hypnotic qualities, the veteran producer smoothly blends punchy kick drums and rolling grooves, with character-rich synths and flashing percussive arrangements. Stepping decisively on the gas as the main break approaches, it’s array of flicking arps and orbiting effects which brings a greater sense of drama and anticipation, tastefully evolving across the interlude, before getting washed away into a vortex of noise for a cosmic finale.
Making his label debut with the first interpretation of ‘Arcadia’ is Jelly For The Babies. Hailing from Serbia, Marijan Raskovic aka Jelly For The Babies has a diverse style which has seen him land releases via inU, Mango Alley and Sound Avenue, while making him a favourite amongst a broad range of top tier tastemakers including Hernan Cattaneo, Mark Knight and Eelke Kleijn. When not producing some of the smoothest deep and progressive house around, Marijan also runs One Of A Kind, RYNTH and The Purr. Now, fresh off a remix for Hot Tuneik’s Guateque Music, Jelly For The Babies makes his RKP debut with a heady take on ‘Arcadia’. Opting for a dynamic dancefloor approach, Jelly For The Babies' chunky grooves, dark tonal themes and swing heavy rhythms make this ideal for an array of progressive house connoisseurs. Looking to bring a greater sense of drama across the break, it’s a coax of deconstructed vocal edits and arpeggiated sequences which emerge, bringing with them anticipatory vibes, before breaking off into a peak time style final act.
The release concludes with Evegrem making his label debut with the second and final interpretation of ‘Arcadia’. Hailing from the talent-rich region of Cordoba, Argentinean artist Evegrem has forged his own path in the world of progressive house. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, Evegrem has compiled an impressive resume. Releases via Freegrant Music, Mango Alley, Univack and Yomo Records sit as discography highlights, with tastemakers in Above & Beyond, Ezequiel Arias, Hernan Cattaneo, Mariano Mellino and Miss Monique being primary supporters of his work. As 2024 winds to a close Evegrem continues on an upwards trajectory, now adding RKP to his resume with an excellent rendition of ‘Arcadia’. Groovy and rhythmic throughout, it's a heady amalgamation of sound which makes for a uniquely dark and club-effective journey, flowing through striking stabs, haunting pads and unrelenting rhythmic pulses, before a clever marriage of swirling effects elevates mood onwards to a thunderous finale.
