Moon-Sun & Some Of – Waiting [ICONYC]

Wrapping up a successful year, John Johnson's ICONYC welcomes Moon-Sun & Some Of to the label with a new EP. Hailing from Russia, this trio of talented producers has a combined discography featuring releases via Eventandrave, Greenise, Interplay Flow and more. Now synthesizing their talents for the first time, Moon-Sun & Some Of land on ICONYC with a two-track label debut entitled 'Waiting'.

The release begins with ‘Sunset’ which aims squarely at the dancefloor with its tough beats and electric groove. Rolling rhythmic themes and a backdrop of shapeshifting textures set the course for impassioned vocals, playful arps and twisted electronics to work their magic. Fuzzed out synth phrasing and tension filled modulation dominate the main break, building anticipation towards a devilish vortex and pyrotechnic finale.

Clocking in at six minutes, it’s the tight crunchy sounds of 'Waiting' which rounds out the release. Nicely produced with great flow and progression, the trio works dark effects and rolling rhythms over a warm, pulsating groove as hopeful vocals add depth and emotion leading into the break. The interlude furthers its poignant appeal with a tasteful selection of phrasing and warm emotive swells, perfectly setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion. Excellent stuff from Moon-Sun & Some Of who make their ICONYC debut a most memorable one. Highly recommended.
