MiraculuM – Dreams of 94 in 120 [ICONYC]

John Johnson's ICONYC imprint returns following a one week hiatus with a brand new single from MiraculuM. It has been the best year on record for the Hungarian artist and Stellar Fountain label boss. His sound has continued to evolve and in some ways is more accessible, yet he’s done it without losing the quirky, dreamy qualities that he became so loved for. It has been nearly two and a half years since MiraculuM has appeared on ICONYC so the cleverly titled ‘Dreams of 94 in 120’ is perhaps long overdue.

If you’re a regular follower of Miraculum you no doubt love to see where the sound design goes on each project. ‘Dreams of 94 in 120’ begins with some gnarly low end rumblings. Rippling and full of great character, it’s quite a menacing sounding groove, perfectly offsetting the vibrant top line elements to come. Shimmering in delivery, they shift the narrative into one of joyous, glowing brilliance, before stripping down into a dreamy, meditative second act, letting the powerful foundation breathe once more. A massive sounding track and likely one of MiraculuM’s most hearty to date.

One of the progressive scenes finest producers Li-Polymer returns to the label for his second appearance and provides the first remix. The Portuguese artist made his ICONYC debut ‘Conventu’ which was released in July of last year. Also owning releases on Asymmetric Recordings, Juicebox Music, Movement and Sudbeat, Li-Polymer continues to be one of the most in demand remixers out there. His uniquely organic sound has worked amazingly well on ‘Dreams of 94 in 120’. The effortless, laid back vibe created here is incredibly inviting and once the warm, pixie-like harmonies take shape during the second act you realize what a real talent Li-Polymer is. Perfectly set up, it’s an emotive yet tasteful centrepiece which serves to reset the groove for a more hypnotic third act finale.

The release concludes with Dangur making their ICONYC debut following releases on Asymmetric, Beat Boutique, Digital Structures and Toolroom. The Israeli duo deliver a tougher rendition on ‘Dreams of 94 in 120’, and while it’s more striped back, still evokes an amazing emotional response. The psychedelic influence is evident in the effects which only add to its dance floor prowess. Massive remix from Danjur which rounds out a hugely successful return to ICONYC for MiraculuM. Highly Recommended.
