Mike Suntower – Coming Home [Soundteller Records]

Rounding out the month of August, Deersky's Soundteller Records adds Mike Suntower to their roster with 'Coming Home'. Hailing from the UK, Mike Taylor aka Mike Suntower has a rich musical history. His time spent as a keyboardist recording and touring with Sniff ’n’ The Tears, Renaissance, The Records and Roy Hill Band is well noted, as he now embarks on a solo career as an electronic music producer. With just a handful of tracks released thus far, Mike makes his Soundteller debut with an artist showcase entitled 'Coming Home'.

Comprised of three distinctive creations, it is the warm grooves and fluttery vibes of 'Coming Home’ which sets the tone for the EP. Instantly seductive, its panoramic arps and balmy effects create a colourful canopy for punchy beats and elastic basslines to ignite the dance floor. A well-crafted break sits at the heart of the journey, flowing through further arp fragments, deconstructed vocals and sweeping effects, before uniting for a tasteful drop and hypnotic finale.

Selection two ‘Event Horizon’ finds Mike composing with a strong sense of space. The UK artist allows the listener to relish in the groove, as flashing percussive arrangements, growling synths and striking effects provide a bridge into a tense, acid-driven break and suitably powerful finale.

The EP's final selection 'Nightfall' continues the nostalgic progressive vibe with a similarly impressive array of charged grooves and trippy vocal re-arranges. Pitched somewhere comfortably between cosmic reverie and melodic bliss, its utopian style ecstasy puts an impactful stamp on the release, while establishing Mike as a name to watch in the progressive music landscape.
