Mike Isai – Bridge [Musique de Lune]

Musique de Lune opens the new year by welcoming Mike Isai to the label for his debut single. Hailing from the United States, Mike Isai has been a rising force in the global progressive house scene since first emerging in 2020. On the strength of his first release 'Pillars to Butterflies' via Nick Warren's Hope Recordings, the Brooklyn resident was immediately tipped as a rising talent to watch. Drawing inspiration from New York City's legendary nightlife, including venues like Twilo, Tunnel, and Sound Factory, Mike's groovy club-effective sound would quickly find a home on trendsetting imprints in Meanwhile and Mango Alley, while progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren continued to be steadfast with support. Now, five years on in his production journey, Mike continues to choose his projects wisely, with a quality over quantity mentality. With 2024 highlighted by his Sudbeat debut 'Exit', Mike now opens the new year with his Musique de Lune debut 'Bridge', alongside remixes from Zankee Gulati and Weird Sounding Dude.

As played by Hernan Cattaneo, the original mix leads the release off with a commanding presence. Mike's New York roots are hugely evident here as he keeps things mature and most of all club-effective. Deep chugging grooves, swinging percussive arrangements and a myriad of buzzing effects create a perfect dancefloor foundation. The icing on the cake so speak is a prophetic sounding lead theme, one which is simple and effective, in turn building tension and anticipation, while getting washed away at timely moments to let that powerful foundation work it's magic.

Fresh off 2024 projects for Bedrock, Meanwhile, Melody Of The Soul, Sudbeat and The Soundgarden, Zankee Gulati opens 2025 with his Musique de Lune debut and a strong interpretation of 'Bridge'. The Sydney resident complements the original version really well, opting for a deeper approach while focusing on a cohesive blend of swaying grooves, fragmented melodies and sweeping effects, while tastefully incorporating the original's distinctive sonic traits, sealing what is a subterranean journey.

Rounding out the release with the second and final interpretation of 'Bridge' is Weird Sounding Dude who also makes his Musique de Lune debut here. 2024 saw the Bangalore resident return to Anjunadeep with a remix of 'Reaching' by Durante, while also making an impressive debut on Alex O'Rion's Solis Records imprint. Getting the new year off to a promising start Weird Sounding Dude puts a peak time spin on 'Bridge', upping the tempo and incorporating looping acid-like hooks for a massive dose of rhythmic energy. Lightening the vibe across the break is a percolating arp which becomes fully realized once the beats drop back in, spearheading a resounding finish to both the track and release.
